First off, thank you for tagging me @moondal514 . This looks fun! It’s insane to me that anyone would consider me a mutual but I’m happy about it sksksks
currently reading: Nothing in particular? There’s a bunch of books I want to read but my brain is SO not on board with me branching out in the book direction rn. I did finally cave and read Son Nefes in full yesterday, even if that is only book-adjacent (It’s really good. If you’re an AFTG fan and haven’t read it, you should. Even if you technically already know all it says from various posts floating around).
Fic wise, it’s whatever @jtl-fics has going on with Fluent Freshman. It’s just prime comedy complete with memes, 11/10.
favorite color: Midnight Blue. I will sing my love for it from the rooftops.
last song: Take Me Back To Eden by Sleep Token. I’m frothing at the mouth about the entire album, but the title song in particular is rotating in my mind like a rotisserie chicken.
last show: I haven’t watched anything in so long I literally can’t remember. @statistical-improbabilities my beloved is trying to bully me into Shadow and Bone and The Good Place and I’ve had my eye on The Legend Of Vox Machina since it came out so my next pick is most likely gonna be one of those.
currently watching: YouTube. If anything, it’s YouTube. I cycle through video essays, Hollow Knight content, Critical Role VODs and the YouTube channel of the animal guy from TikTok like nobody’s business
last movie: Probably my nth rewatch of Howl’s Moving Castle about a year ago (oh god, what is time?) I really wanna go see Across The Spiderverse—the first movie was SO GOOD. Also, Everything Everywhere All At Once when I get around to it (can you tell how I’m always late to trends?)
sweet/spicy/savory: People here expect me to CHOOSE??
currently working on: My beloved monster child of a WIP that is shaping up to be absolutely MASSIVE. It’s an Andreil soulmate AU with telepathy because I am forever true to my brand of ‘what does it do to a person if they have mental superpowers, would that be fucked up or what?’. I passed 110k on this yesterday. It’s still potentially less than half the story. Save me.
current obsession: Take Me Back To Eden by Sleep Token. Ooooh my god. I started listening into this album a couple days ago but sat down today to listen to the entire thing in its proper intended order and. I have ascended into a whole other plane of existence. I am experiencing emotions in colors previously only known to mantis shrimp. I can see my Spotify Wrapped of this year going completely down the drain as this album becomes the only thing I listen to for the entire rest of the year, on repeat. I wish this was an exaggeration. I am dead serious. Sorry to my friends on discord who will be subjected to my lethal case of Not Shutting The Fuck Up About It for the next while <3
6 mutuals: I have no idea at which point following a blog makes that person become a mutual. All I know is that @statistical-improbabilities @i-think-i-lost-my-phone and @swamp-world are legally obliged to put up with my bullshit. @dumbenby I’m roping you into this too <3
Anyone who sees this and feels like doing it (or sees it and wonders why the hell I didn’t tag them because we’re obviously mutuals (I’m sorry)), feel free to take this as your invitation to go ahead and/or yell at me <3

Celebrity Swingers Club
Request: @bbarton -hi!! could i request adam driver x reader <3 they are dating and one night they go out or something and someone starts hitting on the reader aggressively and he gets very protective and jealous :)
A/N: Honestly the idea for this stemmed from a random and hilarious conversation I was having with my friend the other day. I wanted to keep this one light and silly, so I hope it makes you smile!  🥰
Warnings: Dash of SMUT, language.
Tumblr media
Adam was missing you today, even though he’d seen you mere hours ago, wrapped in his arms in bed at the hotel. And you were on set today as well, even. But this happened towards the end of filming, for a lot of actors. The inevitable mixture of melancholy, pride, restlessness and exhaustion. It was exacerbated by being on location, though he had to admit of all the locations he’d been to for a film, he had little to complain about here in Hawaii.
But nearing the end of filming meant that time became more constrained, and you and he saw less of one another. He supposed it was part of the honeymoon phase, after all, you’d only been married about 5 months before production started on this latest project.
Today, he just wanted to see you, even if just for a short while.
So when they called lunch, he was quick to depart the set and make a beeline for the cafe, where he had two orders of lunch preordered for pickup. He thanked the staff, having a brief conversation with the cafe crew about how much he had to bribe them for the recipe to his favourite meal (seriously, it was one of the best dishes he’d ever encountered, but they wouldn’t give it up!). With a laugh and a shrug of defeat, he said his goodbyes and started toward the makeup trailers.
He figured you’d be working with your assistant to tidy up from the morning, as many fake injuries were needed for the scenes they were filming. You complained that these left your workstations a disaster. But he knew you loved creating the wounds, a macabre alternative to the glamour or ‘regular’ looks you specialized in. It had been alarming the first time he’d walked in on you in the bedroom you shared at home to find you looking at horrifically graphic photos and making notes.
As he approached your trailer, your assistant, Bailey, was making her way hurriedly down the steps. Adam greeted her with a wide grin. “Hey Bailey, sneaking away?”
“Sneaking away is accurate, Carter is in there,” She replied, her lips set in a thin line, “Seriously, I know he means well, but he really is a bit much.”
Adam nodded in understanding, as he too found the young actor a little...obnoxious. And while Adam had no illusions to his idiosyncrasies and perpetual ‘asshole’ persona; he still made a point of not falling into conversation with Carter. It was tiring, as the kid would speak non-stop, jumping from topic to topic so quickly it gave his listeners whiplash, and when he’d finish, he’d merely take a breath and launch into another speech unless he was cut off.
But he was a good enough kid and a great actor. Someone that, professionally, Adam was happy to work with. Just like Bailey, however, he had his limits when it came to patience in dealing with Carter offset. And Adam knew his wife all too well, he knew you were in the trailer, abandoned by Bailey, being an absolute gem to the kid. Letting him talk your ear off while you no doubt worked to get your station fully tidied before being called to set after lunch for touch-ups.
“Well, I’d better go rescue her, I’ll see you later.” He sighed, and Bailey gave him a sympathetic, knowing smiling before running off.
You kept your trailer especially cool, which Adam had always appreciated. You said it was for your art, but he also knew you did it for him, as he always ran a lot warmer than most. Stepping inside, he first turned left toward the dining area and set the food boxes down on the table. When he glanced around and didn’t see you in the main room, he made his way to the door that led into the meeting room, which had a large sink that you used for cleaning off your palettes and brushes. The door was halfway cracked and as Adam stepped up, he heard Carter’s voice.
“Honestly, totally no big deal, (y/n). Married, single, divorced-whatever,” Adam was right at the door now, looking in he saw your back, shoulders rigid in a way that he knew meant you were uncomfortable, and pointedly washing off a palette with determined vigour. “You’re fit, and I’m an honest person, so I just wanted to put it out there. You could even ask Adam if you-“
Leaning against the door frame, Adam slid the pocket door the rest of the way open, his eyes focused on Carter. “Ask Adam what?” His voice low, he was trying to control his temper-he didn’t want to jump to conclusions.
Carter had broken off the moment he saw Adam in the doorway, mouth slightly open in surprise. “Oh, hey Adam!” He quickly rearranged his expression to a more pleasant one.
But when you spun around and Adam saw the genuine relief flush across your face, his heart rate increased. He crossed his arms, inwardly happy that he was still wearing only a t-shirt, his muscles flexing slightly.
“Ask me what, Carter.”
The kids’ eyes widened, “I was, well, I mean I was saying to (y/n)-“
Adam cut him off again, “My wife. You were saying to my wife.” Out of the corner of his eye, Adam could see you biting back a smile.
Carter stuttered, “Yes! Of course, I was saying-to your wife-that I’d be down for a, you know,” He shrugged, though his tense posture and wide eyes gave away how utterly not calm he was, “Some fun, Hollywood style, uh, fun.”
At this, Adam frowned with confusion, glancing between Carter and you, and you rolled your eyes, “He means sex. You know, like how all celebrities are here for a good time, so we can swap partners and have sex parties and all that fun stuff we do on weekends.”
Adam’s eyes snapped to Carter, who visibly paled. Gulping he watched as Adam stepped away from the door and into the room, his eyes narrowed. “You asked my wife to fuck? Are you kidding me?” Moving nearer to you, Adam pointed at the door, “Get the fuck out of here, stay the fuck away from my wife, and expect a call from my manager.”
Though his voice had been quiet, the message and severity of his words were all too clear to Carter, who uttered a quick apology before running out of the trailer at full speed. When the door slammed closed behind him, you burst out laughing, peals of giggles that brought a smile to Adam’s face despite his anger.
“Oh god, that poor kid actually thought we had like, celebrity swingers clubs,” You broke down in another fit of giggles, one hand clutching your stomach, and Adam couldn’t help but join in.
After a few minutes, he stepped closer to you and pulled you into his arms, where you rested your head on his chest, your arms snaking around his waist. It hadn’t been the first time he’d encountered someone unabashedly hitting on you, though this was the most unique proposition he thinks you'd been offered.
“That was the first time that one could interpret that I was included in the deal,” He considered aloud, causing you to laugh loudly again. “I’m not sure if I should be more, or less, offended.”
“Carter is a gullible fantasist. I’d put money down that someone told him there was a sex club he was missing out on.”
“If that’s the case,” Adam replied, pulling back slightly to look down at you, “Then whoever told him that is going to get a piece of my mind when I find out who they are. I fucking hate when men hit on you.”
Your gaze softened, a small hand reaching up to stroke his jaw in a soothing motion that always seemed to work on him. “I know, babe,” You whispered, your hand sliding from his jaw to grab the back of his neck, pulling him closer. With your mouth a breath away from his, you added, “I missed you today.” And then your lips pressed to his.
Without hesitation, Adam deepened the kiss, his blood rushing as your mouth opened for him and then he was licking into you, tasting you. A small moan escaped you as you pressed yourself against him, returning his fervour. One of the things he adored about you was the energy that you saved just for him. Every kiss, every touch, they were always fire, always intense and needy. You kissed him like it was the first time, every time, no matter how tired you might be, how hard you might have worked that day.
He broke the kiss, pressing his forehead to yours, each of you panting. “I love you, sweet girl.”
“Love you too, big.” You murmured, your lips wrapping seductively around the nickname you had for him. He smiled, reaching his hands up to cup your face, thumbs stroking the soft skin.
“I brought lunch, by the way.”
You pulled back further, leaning around him to look toward the dining table. Eyes lighting up upon seeing the take out containers that held your favourite meal, you glanced between Adam and the food a few times.
“Seeing you get all jealous worked me up,” Your words were thoughtful, brows furrowed in mock consideration, “I think we have time for a quickie before we ea-AH!”
You shrieked a giggle as Adam lifted you up, pressing his lips to yours before seating you on the table. He reached toward the door and quickly shut it, turning the lock, before looking back down at you.
With a dark look in his eyes, he stepped between your legs, hands gripping your shoulders gently, “Might need to leave a mark or two, remind everyone who you belong to.” And then his lips were on your collarbone, biting possessively before his tongue would lave out to soothe the mark. Your hands found his hair, fingers carding through the raven locks as you moaned in delight.
“All yours, big.” You sighed, and Adam smiled against the skin of your chest, his hands dropping to your hips so that he could ease your leggings off and bring your bodies together.
The food would go cold, but the trailer had a microwave. And really, neither of you were all that hungry at the moment, anyway.

Legend of Korra X Male Reader
Hey guys! I’m loving all the likes you’re giving. I want to hear more of your questions and comments. Also I would really appreciate it if you would tag me and give me credit when you reblog my work. Thanks
(All credit for Legend of Korra goes to Nickelodeon and it’s creators ❤️)
Season 1, ep 5, p2
Kazan and Meelo yawned sleepily, full from dinner. "That was really good, (Y/N)." Pema complimented, rubbing her belly happily. "Glad you liked it Auntie." You then turned to your Aunt Rene who was sulking in the corner with a smug grin. "So, Auntie, thoughts?" you teased, making her start. "Listen little boy! Don't you dare give me attitude just because you're a better cook than me!" Everyone laughed at the banter between you two. "It's late, and the children are sleepy, why don't you guys sleep here for the night? Nagisa can sleep with Jinora and Ikki, and Kazan can bunk with Meelo." Pema suggested.
"Yay! Sleepover!" cheered Ikki and Nagisa much to Jinora's annoyance. "Here, I'll help but the boys to sleep, Uncle."He smiled appreciatively at you, grabbing Meelo while you carried Kazan. "You did good tonight, nephew." Tenzin said, leading the way to the boys' room. "You heard from the radio?" you tilted your head, adjusting your grip on the young firebender. "No, I saw from the corner. You really are your parent's son."
You stared at his back in shock before smiling. "Heh, thanks Uncle."
*That night*
You inhaled the fresh air as you and Nevermore walked to the arena to get ready. But stop seeing Mako and Korra each facing different ways, and leaned against a pole, out of their sight line. "What kind of game are you playing?" asked the Firebender. "Um, pro-bending? We have a quarter final match." Korra stated like it was the most obvious thing. "No, I mean with Bolin. You got him all in a tizzy, and I know you're only using him to get back at me." Mako accused. 'Ooh bad move, Mako.'
"I am not. We're just having fun. What do you care, anyway?" Korra defended. "I'm looking out for my little brother. I don't want to see his heart get broken." 'That is such bull.' you laughed silently. Korra knew it was too, "Wait a second. You're not worried about him; you're jealous," Korra was smirking and you were too. "You do have feelings for me." Mako didn't miss a beat. "What? Jealous? Don't be ridiculous."
"Admit it, you like me." Korra didn't realize she was playing with fire, quite literally. "No, I'm with Asami." "Yeah, but when you're with her, you're thinking about me, aren't you?" The Avatar sounded so smug right now, and you were silently rooting for her. "Get over yourself." Mako snapped. "I'm just being honest!" "You're crazy!" Mako denied. "You're a liar!" cried Korra.
That was when you decided to step in. You splashed the two with water you kept in your pocket, and sent your teammates a raised eye brow. "If you two hot heads are done, we do have a match to go to." You then walked away, your pony tail swinging behind you. You stopped the two from entering the room and to keep Bolin from getting him involved.
"Listen you two, don't bring this energy around Bolin. And while you are out on that ring, keep your personal feelings out of it. We've come too far for you two to mess it up. Am I clear?" The younger teens looked at each other and sighed, when Nevermore snapped her jaws for good measure. "Yes, sir." "Good, I'll be here when the match is over." You walked in and over to the railing, waiting for the match to start.
*15 minutes later*
"Eight teams have been eliminated, and eight advance into the quarter finals, which get underway tonight. The rookies are about to take on the former and longest running champs--the Boar-Q-Pines. Youth clashes with experience in a battle for the ages or rather of the ages. Korra dodges and--ooh slams right into her teammate! Down goes Mako, and Bolin and Korra." You face palm and growled as the second announcer said, "Round One goes to the Boar-Q-Pines."
Your (e/c) eyes narrow, noting Mako was saying something to Korra in a very aggressive way. Poor Bolin looked so confused. The waterbender part of you wanted to switch out with Korra, but the airbender part of you, reminded your that this was how Korra and Mako were going to make up. Nevermore nuzzled your cheek making you chuckle and rub her head. "Thanks, girl."
"The Ferrets looking to mount some offense here in round 2. Bolin lets fly a flurry of attacks. He's a one man bending battalion." "Yes! Way to go, Bolin!" You cheered for the Earthbender. "The Ferrets having a tough time finding their rhythm tonight. But thanks to Bolin, they narrowly notch round two."
Round 3 started and at this point the crowd noticed their was something wrong as well. "Not sure, what's eatin' them, but this is not the same team that took out the Rabbaroos." You winced in sympathy as the Avatar took Earth disk to the stomach. "Round 3 is a tie. We go to a tie breaker to decide the match." A referee tossed a blue and red coin into the air, and caught it, covering it up.
He moved his hand to reveal the red side. "The Fire Ferrets win the coin toss. Which element do you choose?" Immediately the three tried to decide who would go to fight, until Bolin stepped up with the older Earthbender. "Looks like the Earthbenders will collide in the tie breaker face off. Bolin goes in for the grapple, Chang reverses." You grit your teeth as Bolin was flung into the air but cheered when he fired from mid air.
"Bolin strikes from mid air, knocking Chang to the edge of the circle, and another strike from Bolin, knocking Chang into the drink!" "The Future Industries Fire Ferrets win their quarter final match!" You, Mako, and Korra sighed in relief as the announce continued talking. "Ooh, close one folks, youth trumps experience tonight."
You met the trio at the edge and grinned at Bolin. "Good job, Bo! You were awesome out there!" You watched as Korra and Mako went their separate ways. You sighed, and walked over to Mako and whispered in his ear, "You better get your act right, Mako. You maybe my best friend, but I won't hesitate to kick your ass." He looked at you with wide eyes, knowing you were dead serious. "Hey, (Y/N), come with me! I need your help!" Bolin dragged you out the room, making you laugh.
*Time skip*
You and Bolin walked up to where Korra could be hiding and you stopped seeing Korra and Mako kissing. 'Are they kidding me?!' "Wait, Bo, don't--"
You were too late, as he stopped seeing the scene in front of you. You hid half your face in your hand, Nevermore trying to hide her head in your hair. It was silent until Bolin started crying and ran away. "Wait, Bolin, this isn't what you think!" He turned to Korra with a glare on his face. "Great! Look what you did." "You're blaming me?" demanded Korra.
"You kissed me!" "You kissed me back!" Both gasped being splashed with freezing cold water, and turned to you. Nevermore's teeth were drawn back into a snarl, and you had a dangerous look on your face. "It doesn't matter. You are both at fault! Now what matters is how the hell you are going to fix it." You and Nevermore growled as Mako groaned and ran after his brother. You turned to the city view and didn't even look at the Water Tribe girl.
"Korra, I know you've been isolated all your life, and you probably thought you would get your happily ever after with Mako. But there's so many fish in the sea for you to explore with. Don't settle for the small fry." "Well played, Korra." she said, hugging herself. "Live and learn, Korra." you sighed, "Live and learn."
*The next morning.*
You followed Mako into the restaurant.  "Morning, Narook. Is my brother here?" The man behind the counter gestured behind you guys, and Mako waved in thanks. "Thanks." He walked over to Bolin and shook his shoulder. "Come on, wake up. I'm taking you home, bro." That cause Bolin to sniff and look up sadly.
"Don't call me that. You're not my brother!" He drunkenly slapped Mako's hands away from him. "You're a brother-betrayer." He sobbed into his arms. "The only ones I can trust: are Pabu and (Y/N)! They love me!" "You're a mess, and we've got the biggest of our lives tonight. Let's go." Mako tried grabbing Bolin who screamed at him. "No! I'm not going anywhere with you traitor!" You sighed, pushing Mako and grinning at Bolin.
"Come on, Bo. I need my favorite Earthbender to fight with me tonight!" He finally got up with his arm slung over your shoulder. "Only you Bolin, can drunk off Water Tribe Noodles." You laugh gently. "I told you dating a teammate was a bad idea." Mako sighed. "You're a bad idea!" You laugh at their antics, even if you were pissed at Mako.
*That night*
You finished braiding your hair so it hung down your back, and out of your face, as Korra walked into the room. She looked at Bolin slouching on a bench, and noticed you over at the mirror. You were lost in thought, but it was clear something was bothering you. You suddenly snapped out of it and stood up, putting your helmet on. "Let's go guys. And leave your personal feelings here."
"You can't find a team more evenly matched. In age, size, and strength than the Fire Ferrets and the Buzzard Wasps. Believe me, I looked." he joked. "This should be a pulse-pounding semi-final, folks." The bell rang and the Buzzards fought first. "The Buzzard-Wasps open with a flawlessly executed combo. 2 of the Ferrets take an early visit to Zone 2, and Mako's knocked all the way back into Zone 3! The Ferrets have been struggling to stay alive since the opening bell. It seems Bolin and Mako are out of sync tonight. (Y/N) taking the brunt of the impact from the front lines."
The crowd groaned with Bolin as he was hit in the gut, hard. "Ooh, that has got to sting." You heard retching and groaned, knowing it was Bolin. "And Bolin looses his noodles, literally." All the players seem to have froze with that disgusting scene. "Which reminds me, this match is brought to you by our sponsor, Flamey-O-Instant Noodles. 'Noodlest- Noodles in the United Republic.' " Soon Bolin was knocked back into Zone 3 with Mako, leaving you to get defend from Zone 1.
You were suddenly knocked into Zone 3 by an Earth disk, while avoiding a flame burst. "The Buzzard Wasps fly deeper into Ferret Territory. And Mako plunges into the pool. Can the Fire Ferrets hold on?" You and Bolin looked at each other and continued to fight with all you got. "The Ferrets are backed to the edge now, and are saved by the bell! They had better pull themselves together, folks, for round two. Otherwise they can kiss their finals goodbye. "
"Round 2!"  You used water in a arch to knock two of the Buzzards back into Zone 2. "Oh, what a strong start from (Y/N)!" Mako groaned being knocked into Zone 2, and sent fire towards them, hitting Bolin in the process. He cried out, and turned onto his back to glare at Mako. "Hey, watch it!" He gasped being knocked into the water, from his distraction. "The Wasps take advantage of Mako's unforced error, and move forward."
You and Mako spun your elements together and knocked the opposing  Water and Earth benders out and into the drink giving the round to you guys. Round 3 came and you looked between the boys. "Look, we've been working for a long time for this. Get your heads in the game guys. Please." You begged slightly; they knew what this tournament meant to you. "Let's get this over with." Mako sighed.
When the match started, Mako was already in the drink, and Bolin's shoulder was messed up,and then he was in the drink. "The Ferret's dream of making it to the finals rests on Councilman (Y/N)'s shoulders." You smirked to yourself, used your waterbending to get the team into a line of three, and knocked them down like dominoes. "It's the big kaboosh! What a knockout!"
The crowd went wild and you could hear Mako and Bolin cheering for you.  "It didn't seem possible folks, but the Fire Ferrets are headed to the finals." You laughed, waving to the crowd, before walking away. You took your helmet off and groaned when Korra gave you a big hug. "Korra! Korra! I need my....lungs...to breathe." "Oh! Sorry!" she sheepishly let you go. "Sometimes, I forget about my own strength." You sent her a lopsided smile, "It's okay, Korra." Bolin and Mako walked up to you.
"That was pretty much the coolest thing I've ever seen." "Thanks for not giving up on us; we never would've made this far without your level head. We owe you big time." You rolled your eyes, walking past them, taking your helmet off. The three looked at each other, uncertain. "(Y/N)--" "Look, I know things are confusing between the three of you, but this team means everything to me, and the last thing I need is for some petty love triangle is to mess it up."
Your sudden attitude caught the other's off guard; you were usually so carefree and cool. You got ready to leave the room when your ex walked in, making a scene. "Ooh, ooh, you boys smell something in here?" Tahno pinched his nose before smirking. "Oh, wait I know what that is. Yeah, it's the scent of losers." "I hope we see you in the finals. Then we'll see who the real losers really are." Korra said back.
"Yeah, I'm peeing my pants over here." Tahno said confidently before turning to you, with a very faint blush on his cheeks. "I'll win this match for you, (Y/N). Maybe we can go out to that Water Tribe restaurant you like so much." You turned to him with a bored look and said, "Gag me. We are not together anymore, Tahno, I just can't trust you." You brushed your bangs into your face and left without another word.
You ran into Asami in the hallway. "Oh, hey Asami." she hugged you and took a step back, noting your mood. "Great job! What a comeback! I--Hey...what's the matter?" she asked, green eyes shining earnestly. "Nothing, why don't you go see you boyfriend." You began to walk away when she grabbed your arm.
"Hey, you don't need to be strong around me, (Y/N), you've been there for me when I needed it. You can talk to me--" "No! I can't talk to anyone and especially not you because on of my main problems is I'm in love with you, and I just think you're wrong for Mako because he and Korra kissed and they belong together and I--" Asami cut you off by hugging you tightly, your arms tight around her waist. "(Y/N), I-I didn't know you felt that way." You took her hand in yours and kissed the top of it, locking eyes with her.
"Asami..." you left it at that and walked away, leaving her to her thoughts.
You ran to where you hid Neo, and hugged him with all your might, begging your tears not to fall, and while the polar bear dog didn't know what caused your pain, he simply nudged you with as much warmth as possible.  You took such good care of him, it hurt him to see you so upset.
You sniffed, and looked into Neo's blue eyes with a watery smile.
"Let's go home, boy."

You woke up to the sound of laughter in the hallway, slowly getting up to look at the time. It was still too early to go to work so you decided to go back to sleep. As you laid back down and took a deep breath, you saw the chair next to your bed with a coat hanging on the back. Flashes of what happened last night flew through your mind and you jumped out of bed instantly, looking down at your clothes and sighing in relief when you saw you were still dressed in your uniform.
There was no one with you. But he was here. He came up and made sure you were calm. And you remembered how you asked him to stay until you slept and almost vomited because of the prospects of what could have happened. He was a stranger, a dangerous man, who you let inside your home without question. None of it made sense and you looked at the kitchen table and found the gun right next to your wallet.
But why was his coat still here? You reached out to grab it and stopped, afraid he’d somehow make an appearance and watch as you sniffed it. Wait, when did you decide you were going to sniff it?
As you took it off the chair, you couldn’t help but feel how heavy it was and knew that he probably forgot some things in his pockets. Reaching for the right pocket, your hand fished out a watch and when you took a good look at it, you knew it most likely cost more than the building you currently lived in. Placing it back where it belonged, you grabbed for the thing in the left pocket, eyes widening in horror when you took out everything inside it.
You couldn’t believe your eyes. There were so many hundreds in that coat and your heart almost gave out when you counted how much there actually was.
Four grand! This man decided to leave four grand in his coat, in your apartment, probably knowing how poor you were from the looks of the place. Your hands began to shake and you placed the money back in the coat quickly, afraid of where your mind might go. You didn’t want to be tempted. This wasn’t your money, even though he probably didn’t need any of this. You needed to return everything to him.
But where do you even begin to look for him? He didn’t tell you his name or anything. You did vaguely remember the assailant telling him he didn’t know you were with him. Maybe he was someone famous and you’ve just been living under a rock? Looking down at the heavy garment, you couldn’t stop yourself from pulling it to your nose and taking a deep breath, the scent of cologne shooting straight to your thalamus and making you shiver instantly.
God he smelled so damn good. You weren’t sure if this was just the brand he used or if it was mixed with his sweat as well.
But you could also smell the heavy smell of gunpowder and smoke and you pushed the black coat away before getting up and walking to the bathroom. You were about to enter when you spotted a note right next to your wallet. You immediately picked it up and were surprised to find what was written on it.
Tumblr media
You read it at least ten more times on your way to work, refusing to believe that the number, let alone the little message at the bottom, were real or heartfelt. He barely met you so why would he even bother, especially with someone like you? Someone that had nothing to give back. Someone that was nothing.
What if he thought you could give yourself in exchange for his help?
You shook your head violently at the thought. He didn’t seem like the type of person who’d ask for something like that. He would have asked last night.
And where was this bar anyway? You’ve never heard of it before. Actually, that made more sense that what actually happened last night. He looked important so he must have worked in a high-end bar or something. Maybe he even knew the owner. After pulling up his number at least fifteen times, you decided you wouldn’t call him. Besides not knowing what you were supposed to say, you didn’t know if he was even serious.
You thought that maybe you’d go to the bar after your shift to give him his stuff but you then chickened out. What if he misunderstood you? What if he thought you just wanted him for his money? Or that you were one of those clingy women who misunderstood his intentions? No, this wasn’t going to happen. Not today. Not this week even.
On the other side of town, the bar was buzzing with energy. Everyone seemed to be doing their own thing in their corner.
Except Sebastian.
Sebastian couldn’t get any sleep, not because he knew trouble would come because news sure traveled fast in that neighborhood and the asshole of a man was definitely going to come knocking. But he just couldn’t get you out of his mind, not your sweet and soft breaths as you slept through a tough night or how soft the skin of your neck felt under his touch. God what he’d give to just see you again for a second.
But he couldn’t risk getting you involved in his line of work. You already had enough to deal with and he hoped being seen with you wouldn’t cause trouble as is. So he sulked in the corner, refusing to talk with the customers and the parties walking into his lounge.
Everyone noticed his sour mood and after a few of his men asking him if he needed anything, he aggressively pushed his chair back and went to his office, not wanting to cause a problem in his own place. He regretted that decision after a few minutes though because all he could think about was going to your diner or maybe waiting in front of your building to look at you one more time. He’d sworn off women all together and he thought he wouldn’t be tempted again.
But you were such a breath of fresh air, somehow seeing through his mask and breaking down all of his walls in the span of a night.
Yeah he had it bad.
And what’s worse was that he never got your name. He really thought you would have called him by now, maybe asking him where he is and if you could come and see him.
But nothing.
It occurred to him that maybe you wouldn’t have called because you didn’t want to tell him you needed the money and that you’d spent it all and needed more or something like that.
So he stayed in his office for the rest of the night, not bothering to leave even when one of his men came and told him some patrons wanted to sit down with him. He told him no one should disturb him again or someone was going to get shot. It was all what was needed to get some peace of mind for the night.
Walking to his couch, he laid on it to get an hour or two in before his next business deal. But every time Sebastian shut his eyes, he could see her bright and shy eyes meeting his gaze and he let his mind roam with the thoughts of her, hoping that her pretty face could somehow lull him to sleep.
And within minutes, it did.
And he dreamt of her soft skin and dizzying scent.

Note: We’ve got some more spicy scary Steve over here and he’s even got his own POV in this one. So let’s buckle in and enjoy the ride.
Thanks for reading. Feel free to send an ask, reblog, or reply of your thoughts:)
Tumblr media
Despite your attempts to appease him, Steve’s open hostility towards you remained. You started to suspect that it was the other side of the coin. He didn’t just want to humiliate you behind closed doors, he relished doing so in front of others. The team was supportive but had given up actively opposing him. The last had almost resulted in a physical altercation between Sam and Steve and another backhanded remark about what was owed to the fearsome Captain. You couldn’t handle it if someone else was hurt because of his loathing for you, so you told them to stop. It wasn’t worth the effort. You could handle his passive aggression; they didn’t know what else you had already dealt with.
The four of you were sat in the briefing room around the long table. Steve had called the meeting and yet he was the last one there. You were about to fall asleep in your chair. It had been a late night. A rough one. After another two weeks of his nightly incursions, you were exhausted. He had only grown crueler. Even as you submitted to his every wish, fled from his ever glare and sharp word, you seemed only to feed his anger. He sought you out; he was with you all the time, even if physically absent. His presence could not be escaped.
The door opened violently and Steve’s footsteps woke you at once. He walked along the length of the table until he stood at the head. His blue eyes flicked to you subtly. Beneath his beard, his lips twitched before his usual scowl set in stone. He glanced around the group and sighed. “Nice to see you all on time...for once.” He put his hands on his hips.
The table shared silent looks of resent. You were all tired of his malicious remarks. He acted as if you were entirely useless. Well, being suspended from duty, you were, but the rest went out and put themselves in danger for the man. The least he could say was thank you.
“What’s with the attitude?” He huffed, “I have good news. Something to wipe the insolence from your faces.” You waited for him to continue. He always did enjoy the sound of his own voice. His prolonged battle speeches and valiant orders. “I was speaking with King T’Challa, the very man who’s provided us this compound, and he has invited the team to Wakanda for the holidays.” He smiled proudly, “Christmas isn’t really part of their culture but he understands that it is a special time of year for us.”
“Oh?” Nat seemed stunned. You all were, truly. It had been a while since there had been an happy news in the compound. You looked to Wanda who was smiling.
“Well, most of us should be going,” He said as he paced around the table. He stopped behind your chair and gripped the back just above your head. “Those of us who have earned a vacation.”
“Steve,” Nat hissed, “You can’t be serious.”
“I can’t deny the three of you have worked hard in the field,” He leaned on your chair so it shifted, “But I mean...a whole month of suspension. That’s like a vacation in itself.”
“You can’t leave her here alone,” Sam piped up, “If you do, I’m not going.”
“Me either,” Wanda crossed her arms. “As it is, Y/N should already we back in the field. We could use her out there.”
Steve rolled his eyes and jolted your chair as he released it. “Fine,” He said sternly, “She can come but she’s not my problem. She’s yours.” You stared at the table as he walked away. “We leave in two days. Six hundred hours sharp. You’re late, we don’t wait.” He paused; tense silence was the only response. “You’re free. Go on.”
You stood with the rest but were stopped by your name. Steve was watching you. You suspected he had barely looked away from you. “Stay. We’ll discuss your suspension.” The others glanced at you and you shrugged at them. A weight settled in your chest. You didn’t like being alone with him. Nat gave a small smile as she followed Wanda and Sam out the door. They didn’t know; couldn’t know. If they did, they wouldn’t be able to change it.
The door closed and you sat back down. “You didn’t think I was really going to leave you here, did you?” He taunted. Of course, you didn’t. He wasn’t going to let you be. It had all been for show. A little game for him. He could never pass up a chance to have you at his mercy. You looked up as him darkly. “Now, now, don’t look at me like that, soldier. You should be thanking me...on your knees.”
You inhaled and tried to wipe the sneer from your face. “Captain, are we going to talk about my suspension or not?”
He chuckled. “Sure, we’ll talk about it. You’ve got one month left.” You bit your cheek, holding back a retort. “I really don’t like the way you’re looking at me right now.” He closed in on you and grabbed your chin roughly. “Don’t worry. We can still have our little exercises in Wakanda.” You didn’t say anything. You just wanted him to let you go.
He removed his hand and stepped away, turning his back to you. “Maybe, if you’re good, I’ll consider ending your suspension once we return. If not, I might just make it indefinite.” He paused and spun back to you, “That’s it. Go. I’m done with you for now.”
You stood. He raised his brows in challenge and you backed away. You left him as he was; victorious. In the hallway, you felt as if you could breathe again. You turned the corner and almost leapt into the wall as you were frightened by another.
Wanda was leaned against the wall; waiting for you. “So, did he lift your suspension?”
“Not exactly,” You answered. Her eyes seemed to look past you; inside you. “He said he might but I doubt it….whatever, it is what it is.” You shrugged, trying not to show your discomfort. “At least I get to go to Wakanda.”
“His friend is there,” She said pointedly, “Perhaps it will cheer him.”
“Yes, Bucky. Maybe it will.” You tried to smile.
“He is cruel to you,” She narrowed her eyes, “Very cruel.”
“He’s angry at the world,” You said evenly, “Nothing we can do about that. He’ll get over it one day.”
“He shouldn’t treat you like he does,” She asserted and you glanced over her shoulder down the hall. “You shouldn’t let him hurt you.”
“It’s just words,” You lied, looking back to her numbly. “I’ve had worse said to me.”
She stared at you. Measuring you with her crystal eyes. “You’re strong,” She said, “But you’re not alone. Remember that.”
“Thanks, Wanda,” You swallowed. You didn’t want to talk anymore. Couldn’t talk about it anyway. You couldn’t drag anyone else into this. “I guess we should figure out what we’re supposed to bring to Wakanda.”
“Suppose we should,” She accepted your sudden detour warily, “I’ll help you pack. Maybe Nat will join us. She’s always the best at it.”
***
You were the last to board the jet. Steve had opted to drive the Wakandan vessel and you were happy for it as it allowed you to hide in the back. Sam was the first to doze off as Nat and Wanda talked sleepily beside each other. You were too anxious to relax. Steve’s task didn’t keep him from peeking over his shoulder; catching your eye more than once. He would smirk and turn back. You wondered how much he could truly get away with in Wakanda. Maybe there would be a lock on the door; but was there any strong enough to stop him?
You shifted in your seat as the hours went by. You wished you had been left behind. Memories of the previous night flashed in your head. Steve had been as rough as ever; if not rougher. He had almost suffocated you as he pressed your head into a pillow. You could hear his ruts now, the pain in your hips, his flesh slapping against yours. You were tender still. Bruises greeted you that morning along your thighs and hips. Tender as you ran your hands across them.
When at last the jet landed, you hesitated to rise. You waited for Sam to wake up and Wanda and Nat to tease him as the ramp lowered. The three of them disembarked together and you made to follow them, your suitcase heavy as you rolled it beside you. A pinch on your ass made you jump as Steve came up beside you. You eyed him venomously. You didn’t want anyone else to see him pulling shit like that. Worse than them knowing what he was doing was them thinking you were fucking him for your place on the team.
He shrugged and winked. You turned and did your best to walk at a distance from him. He quickly went to the front of the group and led them from the jet pad into the palace below. You looked around, tearing away your worries to admire the marvels around you. Wakanda was beautiful. You could see why it was a long-kept secret. If it wasn’t for your company, you’d want to stay forever.
The interior was even more astounding. The African decor was breathtaking; the bold colours, hand-woven patterns, and finely-crafted ornaments. You could see there was history in every inch of the palace; every bit of it had meaning. It was a statement to freedom; to resilience.
You were greeted in a sparkling hall by the king, T’Challa, his sister, Shuri, his mother, Ramonda, and their ever-present protector, Okoye. A shadow appeared from the corner as Steve led the entourage and shook hands with T’Challa. Bucky smiled as his oldest friend and you couldn’t help the bile it spiked in your throat. Was he worth all this?
Yet how could you begrudge him Steve’s actions? You knew Bucky; he was nice enough and he been a dependable ally in combat. You couldn’t fault anything he had done. He hadn’t asked Steve to make a stand for him. He hadn’t enlisted you, Sam, Natasha, and Wanda to fight his battle. No, that had been the Captain himself. He was the one in charge as he liked to remind everyone of constantly.
After some overly formal and awkward hellos, you were ready to be excused. You might be able to get away with a nap while Steve was distracted with Bucky. At least get settled in. Your heart dropped however as Bucky neared and you saw Steve talking with T’Challa instead. You needed to get away before he remembered you. You couldn’t very well ignore Bucky to ask Shuri where you could go pass out.
“Hey,” You greeted him and he clapped your shoulder, “So, how’s the countryside?”
“Relaxing,” He smiled, “Lonely, sometimes.”
“Oh, yeah,” Sam ducked into the conversation, “I heard you had a bunch of goats to keep you company. You must fit right in.”
“Eh,” Bucky sneered, “Shut up.”
“You two,” You grumbled, “I swear. This time I’ll let you guys fight. I’m not getting in between this again.”
“Buck,” Steve’s voice kept you from laughing at the pair. He stepped up beside you. You could feel the heat of his body as his arm almost touched yours. “T’Challa says you’ve been working on some stuff in the lab.”
“More like testing,” Bucky explained, “You wouldn’t believe this place, it’s amazing.”
“Yeah, well, I hope we’re not intruding,” Steve kidded, “Believe it or not, it get pretty boring at the compound.”
“I figured this bunch would be getting into all sorts of trouble,” Bucky gestured to you and Sam; Nat and Wanda were just behind you chatting with Okoye.
“Mmm, sometimes,” You didn’t miss the subtle glance Steve sent your way as he answered, “Nothing too bad though.”
“Um,” You leaned back on your heel and looked over your shoulder, “I actually have to go tell Nat something. Totally slipped my mind earlier. Excuse me.”
You scurried away before the tension could become any more intolerable. You couldn’t take Steve standing so close and acting so...nice. He wasn’t nice. He was terrible. You skirted over to Nat and edged your way into their little group.
“Hey,” You nudged her, “Do you know where we’re staying? I’m exhausted.”
“You should’ve napped on the jet,” She reproached softly, “And I’ll find out. Just be patient.”
“Fine” You sighed and pursed your lips.
You could wait as long as Steve wasn’t hovering over you. You looked over your shoulder at him and he seemed to sense it. He met your eye and the corner of his mouth twitched. You quickly turned back to the others and found another pair of eyes watching you. Wanda squinted but said nothing, drawing her attention back to Okoye. You clasped your hands together nervously. You couldn’t have her poking around. For her own good as much as yours.
***
Steve felt a stir in his pants as he watched Y/N drag her bag behind her. T’Challa was rambling as Bucky approached the lone woman who seemed all to eager to go unnoticed. Along with his arousal was an unexpected flash of anger. He didn’t like her being around other men; not with him near. In the compound it was easy enough, her and Sam were like siblings but something about the way his old friend looked at her had set him off. Her and Bucky had always gotten along. He had forgot about that.
He excused himself from T’Challa as Ramonda approached and walked over to the small group, shouldering in next to her. “Buck,” He greeted. He could feel her next to him. She flinched as he butted into the conversation, “T’Challa says you’ve been working on some stuff in the lab.”
“More like testing,” Bucky offered; it was good to see his old friend happy again. “You wouldn’t believe this place, it’s amazing.”
“Yeah, well, I hope we’re not intruding,” Steve kidded. He focused on keeping his voice light. “Believe it or not, it gets pretty boring at the compound.”
“I figured this bunch would be getting into all sorts of trouble,” Bucky waved toward Y/N and Sam. The chatter of the others in the room buzzed behind them.
“Mmm, sometimes,” Steve couldn’t help but peek over at her. He was starting to get hard just thinking of their last meeting. “Nothing too bad though.”
“Um,” Y/N glanced over her shoulder as she shifted her weight from one foot to the other, “I actually have to go tell Nat something. Totally slipped my mind earlier. Excuse me.”
Steve watched as she detached herself from the group without pause. She was making a point of not looking at him and it made him bristle. It made him want her. Need her. He turned back to Sam and Bucky as they started arguing about some gadget or another. He could still feel her resistance. Even after all these weeks, she had yet to break entirely.
Her resilience had been what he had first seen in her but now it was growing entirely irritating. She still had those moments of defiance; alone or otherwise. Her eyes burned him when he was on top of her and it fed his own fire. He would only work her harder; bending her body, scalding her flesh with his resent. And with that reserved for others. She was silent these days and yet her face told a story in itself. An unsaid rant towards him. How he had changed... He was still the same man. Still her Captain and she best remember it.
As his erection pressed against the front of his pants he cleared his throat. It was gonna be obvious soon. He sensed movement behind him and glanced over his shoulder. As he met Y/N’s stare, his lips twitched and she quickly looked away. He turned back and crossed his hands in front of him, fingers wrapped around his wrist as he tried to hide his rising excitement. The whole flight he had been thinking of using her. Of commanding her onto her knees.
He was drawn from his descending fantasies when the women behind him dispersed. Shuri began to lead them to the door and Steve hurriedly excused himself. “Hey, I think they’re going to settle rooms,” He nudged Sam, “I’m kinda spent from the flight.” He looked to Bucky, “You don’t mind if we catch up later?”
“No, I get it,” Bucky smiled and ran a hand over his thick hair. “I was just playing around with a new rifle anyway. You guys kinda interrupted, you know?”
“Sure, Buck,” Steve chuckled and playfully shoved his friend’s shoulder, “Later.”
Sam followed Steve as they caught up to the rest, rolling their suitcase behind them. Y/N turned her head slightly, sighting him in her peripherals but did not looked further. Shuri chattered on as she led them through the airy hallways. She stopped suddenly and waved to a breadth of doors along the next. “This will be your wing. There are enough rooms for all of you.” She smiled, “I trust you can figure it out from here.”
“Thanks,” Steve nodded as the princess sidled past him before he turned to his team. He pushed ahead of them and looked at the doors. “Sam,” He pointed to the closest, “Wanda,” The next, “Nat,” He could see Y/N fidgeting as he assigned rooms, “Y/N,” He pointed over his left shoulder, “And I’ll take the last one.” It was directly across from hers. That fact made her jaw clench.
“Jesus, Cap, we’re not children,” Sam muttered.
“Could’ve fooled me,” Steve retorted and spun around.
He marched to his door and opened it, shoving his bag inside. He could hear the others as they followed suit and he turned to watch. Nat and Wanda were almost to eager to be away and their doors shut almost as one. Sam dipped into his room with a yawn, but Y/N remained where she was, her eyes glued to her door. Steve grinned and left his door ajar as he approached her.
“You can share mine,” He smirked as he touched her upper arm and she winced. She drew away from him and grabbed her suitcase. She said nothing as she sidestepped him and finally headed for her room. Steve caught the back of her bag and wrenched it from her grasp, almost bending the metal handle. “I’ll help you with this.”
He lifted it easily, his hand on her shoulder as he guided her down the hall. She tried to shrug him off but he merely dug his fingers deeper. They stopped before her door and she opened it reluctantly. He tossed her bag inside as if it weighed nothing and snapped the door shut swiftly before she could enter. He caught the back of her shirt and tugged her towards his own room.
“It’s a vacation, Y/N,” She tried to dig in her heels as he growled in her ear. She reached back to claw at his fingers and he let go only to grab her by her ponytail instead. “We might as well enjoy our time away.” He forced her through his door as she hissed at the pain in her scalp. He released her gruffly as he shoved her ahead of him and kicked shut the door.
She turned to watch him enter, her shoulders tense as she crossed her arms. He could see the dread as it filled her, mixed with a palour of disappointment. She had thought she could get away from him. That wasn’t how it worked. Steve looked around at the room; it was nice. A tribal tapestry above the king-sized bed; he’d make good use of that. The trappings were finely arranged and he was as impressed as he had been with the rest of the kingdom.
Y/N moved away from him as he paced around and pulled open the curtains and let in the Wakandan sunlight. Every step he took past her or around her, she edged away. He was so hard. He dipped his head through the door on the other side of the bed. The bathroom was immaculate; a large tub drew the eye; more than big enough for two. He reached down to rub his throbbing bulge as he pictured her naked and wet before him. He would have her bent over the marble soon enough.
“How about a bath?” He turned back to the room and found her creeping towards the door. He stormed towards her before she could complete her path. “You think I won’t drag you back here,” He slipped his fingers beneath the belt of her jeans and dragged her close to him. “Now, be a good soldier and get undressed.” He urged her towards the bathroom and released her roughly ahead of him. “I gave you an order, soldier.”
“Yes, Captain,” He grinned as his cock began to ache at the words.
He was close behind her as she entered the bathroom. He tore his tee over his head and began to work on his belt buckle. He blindly undressed himself as he watched her do the same. His eyes went to her hips and ass as she bent to untangle her panties. “Well, get the water going,” He commanded as he stared her down.
Her eyes flicked down to his cock and he wiggled his hips just slightly. She looked away quickly and crossed to the tub. She bent to turn the faucets; a perfect view of her ass and just a hint of her pussy. He didn’t know if he could wait. He was tempted to go over and fuck her then and there.
She stood as the water began to flow and he was moving towards her in an instant. She braced for him but he passed her by with a chuckle. He stepped into the tub and lowered himself with hands on the marble walls. He sighed as he reclined against the back and ran his hand from his chest to cock; lingering there.
“Get in,” He ordered and she raised no argument but a shaky exhale. “Turn around,” He directed her until her ass faced him, “Down.”
She obeyed and his large hands were at her waist. He helped her lay over him, his front to her back. He shifted her so that her ass was just above his cock. His tip cloyingly prodded at her folds. His hands explored her body, kneaded her chest and hips, traced the vee of of her pelvis, cupped her ass as she rested weightless over him. He could feel her holding in her moans; her body taut against his fingers.
“Turn the water off,” He said as the tub filled. She gave another ‘yes, Captain’ and sat forward to do as he bid. As she started to lower herself again, he took her by the hips and guided her body to his. He reached down and positioned his sore cock. It was tortuously painful now. He need her warmth around him.He entered her easily; the heat of her walls and the water melded around his length. He groaned as she gave a small squeak. He bent his arms to restrain hers, his hands at the back of her neck.
“Ugh,” He grunted as he thrust into her, “You’re so tight.” He loved the way she felt around him; so snug, so soft. “You like your Captain’s cock, soldier? You like it when I stretch that little pussy of yours?”
He could feel her shock as he body stiffened at his words but she only moaned as he pushed himself further. He kept his pelvis flush to her, longing to go deeper though he was at his limit. She took him well.He pulled out and she shuddered. He slammed back into her, the water rippled around them, and she squeaked. He loved that noise.
“Tell your Captain how much you like his cock. Tell me you love my cock.”
She closed her eyes, her head falling to the side. “I love your cock, Captain,” Her voice was wispy. She was fighting it. Fighting both him and herself.
He carried his motion, his thrusts growing closer together as his cock pulsed against her walls. He needed the release. The water splashed around them as he hammered into her and let go of her arms to pull her legs up around her chest. It opened her more to him and he could feel himself bottoming out in her. Her hands went flat against the sides of the tub and she tried to measure her breaths but they soon grew chaotic.
“You gonna cum for your Captain?” He hummed and she whimpered. “Did I say you could cum yet?”
“N-no,” She gritted her teeth against his merciless pounding. “No, C-c-c-captain.”
“Your Captain wants you to cum,” He growled, “Cum for me, soldier.”
He held her legs as she tried to straighten them, her muscles strained and suddenly released as she orgasmed. Her pussy clenched his cock over and over as the strangled cry rose from her. He didn’t stop. Couldn’t stop as he felt himself nearing his own climax. Before he could, she was orgasming a second time and it forced him to follow as her pussy milked him. He filled her with a deep snarl, his hot ribbons snaking around his cock as he rode out his peak.
He stilled her body atop his and she twitched around his cock. He didn’t remove himself as he basked in the afterglow. His breath rasped out as he brought his hands up to free her hair from her sagging ponytail. He brushed his fingers through it, “You like it when your Captain cums in you?” She shook her head and sniffled. She wiped her eyes as she hid her face from him. “What was that, soldier?” His hand paused on her head.
“No, Captain,” Her voice cracked, “I’m not...I’m not...protected.” His hand fell from her hair and she sat up swiftly. Her warmth left his cock as she climbed off of him. He could see his cum floating in the water as it leaked from her. “I have no birth control.” Her eyes stared at the white strings in the tub.
Steve’s cock twitched at her admission. Even after such a violent release, he was ready for more and her words made him hard again. The thought of her possibly being pregnant didn’t bother him as much as he thought. In fact, it incensed him. He sat up in the tub and grabbed her wrists, drawing her back to him.
“You think I give a fuck?” He sneered, “If your Captain gives you his cum, soldier, you say ‘thank you, can I have some more?’”
He lifted her by her hips and slipped into her, her hands beat against his muscled stomach. He brought himself to his limit and kept her there. He savoured the feel of her around him. He took her head between his hands and forced her to look at him. Her eyes were panicked; fearful. He had broke her at last.
“Do you want more, soldier?”
Her lips pressed together and her eyes swum for a second before she swallowed back her despair. “Yes, Captain,” She said weakly and he felt her pussy pulse. He could’ve cum at that very instant.

Nostalgia and Apologies
This is my first fic for the spop fandom! Feedback, likes, and reblogs are greatly appreciated :) Enjoy!
Happy Birthday Scorpia!!
Pairings: platonic scorptra, background romantic catradora, mentioned scorfuma, implied entrapdak
Words: 1964
CW: slight angst, bad flirting, unreliable narrator
Summary: Etheria's magic is restored; the Hoard has been defeated. Scorpia wants to take her kingdom back, so in order to do so, she brings Entrapta (the tech master), Adora (the crushing master), Perfuma (the plant master), and... Catra. Nostalgia is in order, and so are apologies.
-------------------------------------
After Etheria's magic was fully restored and the world was safe from Hoard Prime, The Fright Zone had no use. Entrapta returned to her palace and Hordak went with her; with Shadow Weaver gone as well, no one had felt the need to stay. (After all, the good food was outside in the world. Not one person wanted those ration bars once they discovered fruit). So all the former hoard soldiers made their own homes with new lives where they came from in the rest of Etheria. This was not the most easy thing to do, since most people were still aggressive towards the Hoard, and quite a few of those soldiers struggled to find places to stay outside of the now abandoned Fright Zone. But for the most part, the former soldiers were able to start over.
Then there was Scorpia. Like most of the other soldiers, she had been with the Hoard her entire life, but unlike them, she had nowhere else to go. Her kingdom had been taken over by the Horad; it was the Fright Zone.
So, she was going to take it back.
Scorpia, Entrapta, Catra, Adora, and Perfuma walked towards the Fright Zone through the Whispering Woods. The forest was now even more magical, filled with creatures Etheria had not seen in a thousand years. Perfuma was talking with Adora, Catra walking next to the latter, and leading the way was Scorpia with Entrapta using her hair to walk beside her.
"I'm so glad you asked me to help with the Fright Zone!" Entrapta said, talking animatedly. "There will be so many useful materials I'll be able to bring back to my lab when this is done! Although normally I'm better at putting things together than taking them apart..."
"That's what I'm here for," Adora said with a smirk, cracking her knuckles. Catra rolled her eyes fondly from beside her.
"Yes exactly! Anyway with the components from the power system, and the sheer amount of metal I can collect from the buildings, ohhh," Entrapta said enthusiastically, rubbing her hands together before going on a tangent about all the things she could do with metal plating.
Scorpia smiled at her friend, listening intently even though she didn't know half the things Entrapta was talking about. (But she did know who Darla was! So. That's one more thing).
As they reached the edge of the forest, the five faced the horizon of the Fright Zone, the wasteland now covered in bright flowering plants. The three former Hoard soldiers stopped at the sight.
"It's so beautiful here, it's almost impossible to tell it was ever so dark and dreary," Perfuma said, examining the flowers growing in some of the broken down machinery.
Entrapta clapped and made a noise of excitement. "Perfuma, help me with these plants!" she said quickly, moving towards a large mechanical structure.
While Entrapta kept walking into the familiar territory, Perfuma following behind her, the three former force captains were frozen in place.
A flood of feelings came surging at Scorpia (and she could only imagine, the others as well) at the sight. All of the memories... all of the moments that took place in what was essentially a prison. Of course  they had not known that then, but it was clear now. It didn't change the fact that she had known every corner of the Fright Zone from the dorms to the cell blocks for her entire life. Knowing the truth doesn't change the past, it only drives what must be changed in the future.
"It's weird- I don't think of this place as my home anymore, but there are so many memories I have of here… I can't not feel nostalgic," Adora spoke up after some moments.
"Yeah…" Scorpia and Catra echoed simultaneously, which snapped them out of their trance-like state, both glancing towards the other.
"Oh hey, remember the old training grounds!" Adora called, already running into the tangle of plant-covered buildings.
"You mean the one that broke down after, like, 2 squadrons trained there?" Scorpia called back, running after her.
"Yeah, Catra and I used to go play by it all the time as kids, right….. kitty cat?"
"Absolutely not," Catra said, appearing next to Adora as if she had teleported. Dang that girl… cat... was fast. "I've already said no to 'kitty' and 'kitten'. There's no way I'm accepting 'kitty cat'. Or any cat-themed pet name!"
"Oh come on, tabby, that's no fun," Adora said with a large devious smile as Catra struggled to keep calm.
"You're ignoring the obvious choice here," Scorpia said to Adora, who gasped with mock scandal in return.
"Scorpia, I'm surprised at you! to say something like that in the presence of a lady!" Adora said (with a grin that would normally make her act unconvincing), motioning to Entrapta and Perfuma in the background, Entrapta with her tools whipped out hard at work on an uncovered control pad.
The both of them burst out into laughter, Catra scoffing with her arms crossed behind them.
Scorpia pretended to wipe a tear from her eyes before looking around. "The dining hall!" she exclaimed after a moment, half-running half-walking towards another building. "I used to come here every day," she said as she approached it and stopped, Catra and Adora coming up right behind her.
Another moment of nostalgic silence and the three were running around again, pointing out every embarrassing memory that came with the different areas of the place they once all called home.
"Oh, I remember this place," Adora said as they reached the top of the main building. "We'd come up here constantly. Then Catra would run up there to sulk and I would have to chase her in order to try and talk to her," she said with a smile.
Scorpia remembered similar times with Catra. Those memories were… complicated.
Catra turned to where Adora was talking about and started sprinting, leaping up with cat-like agility up onto the largest platform. Scorpia and Adora glanced at each other before Adora summoned her sword and transformed it to a grappling hook, the both of them running after her.
"We would come up here and talk about how we were going to conquer the world together," Catra said as Adora approached from behind, her voice low. Scorpia walked up on the other side of Catra cautiously. "Remember when you got promoted? Right before you found that sword. I didn't even want to be a Force Captain then." Catra ran a hand over the mossy railing, staring at it in memory.
Adora put a hand on Catra's and looked at her kindly. Catra seemed to relax slightly after that, and Scorpia still couldn't help but feel a ping of jealousy that Adora was able to comfort her in a way she couldn't.
"Hey! Adora!" a voice suddenly called from below them. The three leaned over and looked down to see Entrapta looking up at them, Perfuma waving from beside her.
 "Yeah?" Adora called back.
"Can you come down here and help me with this?" Entrapta yelled in response.
"Sure!" Adora called back once again, stepping back to go down. she paused in the entryway, glancing back at Catra and Scorpia. "You coming?"
"I'll be right there," Catra said, looking back out at the horizon. Adora and Scorpia shared a look, Scorpia glancing between Catra and Adora in an attempt to send a silent message. It must have worked, because Adora gave a thumbs-up back and turned to go and help Entrapta, glowing as she leapt down and out of view.
Scorpia turned back to Catra and crossed her arms on top of the railing. "Are… you okay?"
"I'm sorry," Catra said suddenly, her head lowering. Scorpia was struck silent, her eyes widening just for a second before forcing an understanding look on her face.
"No, don't be! You're good now, we're good, you don't have to apologize-"
Catra cut Scorpia off with a scoff-like noise, her head rolling to the side. "I mean- yes, I'm 'good now', but that doesn't matter!" she exclaimed before looking back down, avoiding Scorpia's gaze. "I still hurt you. I was blinded by my own selfish pain, and… and I was a terrible person! A bad friend, like you said. I tried to apologize before, but you were so… you. You know, after you left-" Catra paused, and looked back down. "I was so… broken. I couldn't even hear your name without feeling like I was going crazy. And later… I realized something. You were so good and understanding and you tried so hard… you were a friend. I could have--I should have appreciated that instead of pushing you father away and just focusing on myself. That's why… I'm sorry."
At that, Scorpia stopped. Looking down as well, she stood in silence with Catra, her friend. "When you came back, I was so happy to see you. Well, I thought I was," Scorpia started after a moment. "I guess I still felt a little guilty, and I thought I had to be happy to see you. I am!" she corrected quickly, and gave a half-sigh, "but I was still kinda confused. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I was so quick to forgive you that I didn't give you a chance to apologize. And because of that, things have been weird. But I don't want them to be."
Scorpia looked up to find Catra finally meeting her gaze. "As far as I'm concerned, we're still friends. And I forgive you," Scorpia said, smiling enthusiastically.
Catra started to smile back, although it was quickly cut off by a gasp from Scorpia. "Does this mean the Super Pal Trio is back together?" Scorpia asked enthusiastically.
Catra laughed. "I guess it does," she said, glancing down at where Entrapta, Perfuma, and She-Ra stood (wrecking things, no doubt).
"Yes!" Scorpia exclaimed, standing up and hugging Catra, who gave in willing. Scorpia did give great hugs. "We gotta go reminisce with Entrapta now." Scorpia turned, walking back out to go down to the other two.
"I'm coming," Catra said, right behind her. And with a final glance out at the familiar outline of the Fright Zone, she left with her friend, a smile on her face.
---
If you would like to know how this story ends, that's simple.
It takes some time, but eventually most of the Fright Zone is dismantled. Some of the materials are left for foundations and such, but Entrapta takes a lot of the resources back to Dryl. The other princesses help with the rebuilding of Horror Hall and the rest of the kingdom as well, making it a beautiful and friendly place to stay (while still maintaining a bit of the original aesthetic). The Black Garnet is moved from a deep dark chamber into the center of the kingdom to out where it can see the sky, filled with the shining sun or stormy clouds or twinkling stars. All the princesses host a huge party to celebrate as soon as the rebuilding is finished, and people from all across Etheria are invited. Remember those former Hoard soldiers who had a hard time finding places to stay? Yeah, all of those people are more than welcome to restart their lives in the former Fright Zone. Oh, and Scorpia and Perfuma are dating now! With all of the princesses and their kingdoms united in this world of magic that they had never known before, Etheria is complete (for the time being. Something always happens). The Best Friend Squad, with the help of their other friends, do end up helping restore magic to the universe, but that's a long story for a different time. For now, the camera fades out on Princess Scorpia and her newly-restored kingdom, her (newly-restored) friends, and all of the world's smiles.

Not Nineteen Forever (2) (Branjie/Scyvie)- Ortega
a/n: first off thank you to everyone who’s liked, reblogged, put something cute in their tags, dm’d or sent feedback to me/to AQ about this! it completely warms my heart and motivates me SO MUCH so thank you. in this chapter Scarlet gets a shock, someone gets a new groupchat nickname, and things are revealed during pres. as always send lovely things here or to my blog @artificialortega, and enjoy the quick updates while i’m still not at work!
Trigger Warning: alcohol. standard procedure xo
Summary: Brooke, Yvie and Nina are three flatmates who forged a friendship in their first year of university and picked up some other waifs and strays along the way. Now in their final year, there are feelings that need to be unravelled and confessions to be made whilst navigating drunk nights, hungover mornings, takeaways, group chats, library meetups, cafe gossiping, and the small matter of getting a degree.
***
Scarlet stood in the street, silent, breathing heavily, and absolutely frozen to the spot. She had felt the coin drop from her hand and hit the pavement, but whether that had been seconds ago or minutes ago she couldn’t tell. All that was running through her mind was one single thought, one single number, and no matter how much her eyes darted across the small rectangle of paper it didn’t seem to change.
Five thousand.
She looked again- top left hand corner, top middle, dead middle.
Five thousand.
Scarlet took one deep breath in then held it tightly in her chest before releasing it. Selfishly, she reminded herself that it wasn’t that much money, in the grand scheme of things. Some people would get paid that a month eventually in life. But Scarlet was a student- a philosophy student at that, who wouldn’t get paid shit when she graduated and had absolutely zero job prospects.
Five thousand was big.
She never bought scratchcards. It was a whimsical purchase, along with a granola bar and a bottle of chocolate milk on her way to a lecture, but there was no fucking way that was happening now, not while she had a card in her hand that entitled her to be the proud owner of five thousand whole pounds.
Part of her panicked. Part of her didn’t know what the hell to do with all this money. She completely and utterly was not in any way used to it. She was still thinking and in a complete daze when she walked back into the shop and handed the shopkeeper the card wordlessly. Confused, the man looked at it for a moment then laughed.
“I can’t cash that here,” he chuckled, handing it back to Scarlet. “Can only give you up to one hundred. You need to phone them.”
“Oh,” she laughed, uncomfortable and embarrassed, thanking the man as she took the card and left. Once outside, she turned it over, found the phone number she needed to call, and in a matter of minutes, her NatWest banking app now read: £4985.55 (she had previously been in her overdraft).
So what the hell did she do now?
As if on cue, her phone hummed in her jacket pocket. Bringing it out to look at, she saw the group chat already exploding with messages.
Dave the Laugh: anyone down for lunch near the lib in 5?
Cananana Canadada hey hey hey bingo: Yes please. Can we go Liezen?
Kim Kardashian-West: i’m eating the most disappointing sandwich of my life in a staffroom where no other teacher is talking to me! i <3 placement!
Plastique Bague: Nina :(
Plastique Bague: I’d be down for Liezen in 5! Me n Brooke will be there after this lecture
FORD TRANSIT VANJIE: Biiiiiitch so sad i’m missing this!!!!!! don’t have too much fun without me xo
Scarlet paused for a moment, her thumbs hovering over the phone screen. It would probably make her feel better, going to see the girls, and Yvie would be there too. Her heart gave a little jolt as she typed her own reply.
used Tampon: Can I come too??
There was a small pause in the chat, as if everybody was looking at each other with concern despite all being in separate places. Squeezing her eyes shut, Scarlet tried to push out the spiral of her thoughts to a secret, Scarlet-less group chat the girls had without her. It wasn’t that she felt insecure in her friendship group, it was just that sometimes she felt like the odd one out, that sometimes they were only friends with her for pity, that they secretly joked about her behind her back.
That was insecurity. She’d just defined insecurity.
Sighing, she looked down at her phone again and her heart soared.
Cananana Canadada hey hey hey bingo: No sorry it’s a No Scarlet Allowed event xo
Dave the Laugh: Brooke i’m evicting u
Dave the Laugh: ofc u can join, u don’t need to ask bitch!!
Brooke’s comment completely ignored, Scarlet cheerfully made her way through the park that separated all the city’s student-land flats and the main campus, where the cafe they visited so often lay just on the outside of. She didn’t care even if the others hadn’t wanted her to join- Yvie had, and that was what mattered.
Scarlet had a weird relationship with Yvie, different to ones that she had with the rest of her friends. Whenever she saw her, she always felt like she needed to look her best or be acting nonchalant and cool, despite the fact Scarlet couldn’t be either of those things to save herself. If Yvie’s body was having a rough day and was being particularly unkind to her, Scarlet would worry and fuss, and ask Yvie if she needed anything to the point where the other girl sometimes got annoyed at her. She couldn’t help herself- the thought of Yvie being in pain was so horrible to her, cutting through her and making her fret. Sometimes Scarlet felt she couldn’t respond to or take part in any of the friendly shade or roastings that Yvie threw her way, because maybe Yvie would see that as flirting, and that would be weird. They were just friends, after all, Scarlet reminded herself with a nod. It was just…a different type of friendship than the ones she had with the others. But it was still a friendship.
Arriving at the cafe, she scanned the room and found Yvie, Plastique and Brooke Lynn sitting around a booth. Scarlet found her heart giving a jump when she saw the seat next to Yvie was free and she walked towards the table happily, sliding into the free seat and greeting everyone.
“Hey, boo,” Yvie smiled, scooting up so that Scarlet had more room.
“Oh she’s here, guys. We need to stop talking about her now,” Brooke said dryly and sipped her coffee, her tone of voice giving absolutely nothing away. Scarlet’s mouth fell open, confused.
Plastique burst out laughing as Brooke winced in pain, Scarlet feeling the motion of a leg kicking out from beside her.
“She’s fucking with you, Scarlet, don’t worry,” Plastique smiled sweetly, Scarlet grateful for the sympathy. Brooke and Yvie appeared to be locked in an aggressive staring contest, so Scarlet spoke in an effort to break it.
“How’ve your days all been?” she asked lightly, picking up the menu and giving it a flippant scan before deciding she’d order what she always did.
“Boring. I got up and went to the gym, we had a 9am-” Plastique gestured between herself and Brooke. “- and then a tutorial, and now we’re here. We made a really good effort to get some work done in the library though. We spent a whole…what was it, ten? Five minutes in there?”
“Um sorry, I would’ve happily stayed and done work but Miss I-Need-Food-Or-I’ll-Die dragged me out here,” Brooke cast an incredulous glance at her friend. Plastique shrugged.
“Guilty,” she said, before sipping at an orange juice she had in front of her.
“How’s your day been, Scarlet?” Yvie asked, her head leaning on her hand in an effort to face her.
Scarlet considered her options as quickly as she could in the two second time gap she had in which to answer. She could tell the girls about the scratchcard, or she could just…not. As mean as it sounded, she’d heard about people’s friends changing when they’d had a lottery win, and not necessarily for the better. Okay, it was only five thousand (only? ONLY?) but it was still probably more money than any of them had ever had at uni, and Scarlet still didn’t really know what she was going to do with it all. Looking in Yvie’s eyes, she was struck with a pang of guilt for what she was about to say.
“Uh, alright. I got up kinda late. I’m actually supposed to have a lecture just now, but I blew it off. Balsamic tomatoes were calling me,” she shrugged, pleased when both Yvie and Brooke laughed. As the waiter arrived to take their order, Scarlet let out a sigh of relief she didn’t know she’d been holding. She hadn’t known lying would come this easily to her. Well- technically she hadn’t lied. She hadn’t not told them about the scratchcard. She just…happened to omit it from the recount of her day.
As the waiter moved away from their table, the conversation turned to a night out that Vanessa’s flat was apparently hosting pres for this evening. Scarlet felt a pang of envy. She wished she had the sort of flatmates that were all so close and hosted things together, but instead she was stuck in a two bed with a girl she’d found on SpareRooms who inexplicably hated her. She longed to be the flat that everyone would come to for chilled times, like Brooke, Yvie and Nina, or the flat that hosted crazy parties like Vanessa, Silky and Akeria. At the very least, she wished she had Plastique’s excuse to not host anything- her incredibly rich and successful Mum had simply bought her a beautiful flat in the nicest part of town, which she shared with her friend from school. Scarlet’s mouse-infested two bed was a million miles away.
“I don’t know, Yvie, we’ve only got three weeks until showcase,” Brooke sighed, hands around her cup of coffee. Yvie waved a dismissive hand.
“Shut up with these excuses already. Plastique, you’ll come because you can’t stop yourself from drinking anything with an alcohol content higher than 3% and Brooke, you’ll come because it’s Vanjie.”
“And what the fuck is that supposed to mean?” Brooke asked pointedly, fixing her gaze on Yvie. The other girl laughed.
“It means you want to bone,” Yvie explained, scrunching up her face with a laugh as she made a snipping motion with her fingers.
“BOOOOOOONE?!” Plastique impersonated, causing Scarlet and Yvie to burst out laughing.
“Fuck you all. It’s not like that at all,” Brooke rolled her eyes, unamused. Scarlet felt for the girl. In the time she’d been part of the friendship group, she knew that Brooke pined for Vanessa but also that Vanessa crushed on Brooke with exactly the same intensity, Vanessa often confiding things to Scarlet in the Philosophy lectures they were in together. Scarlet had told Yvie all of this, and Yvie, naturally, told Brooke time and time again how much Vanessa liked her, but never told Brooke how she knew (a gesture, Scarlet always thought, that was sweet of her as it protected her from any fallout of Vanessa finding out that Scarlet had told Yvie).
“I think it’s sweet,” Scarlet chimed in, her stomach spasming as Brooke fixed her with an unimpressed gaze. “You know. That you’re waiting to tell her until you’re sure she likes you too. I feel like I would do the same.”
To Scarlet’s relief, Brooke pulled a smug smile and gestured across the table to Scarlet. “See? She knows.”
Yvie frowned at Scarlet, drumming her fingers against the table. “So you would wait as long as she has to tell someone you liked them?”
Scarlet found her words catching in her throat. For some reason, Brooke laughed.
“Girl. Shut up.”
“What?!” Yvie exclaimed. “It’s just interesting!”
“Interesting in what way?” Plastique asked, her face expressionless and a quick knowing look passing between her and Brooke before the waiter arrived with their food (scrambled eggs, avocado and tomatoes with balsamic on sourdough for Scarlet, bacon roll for Yvie, raisin granola with strawberry jam for Plastique and a chocolate and hazelnut croissant for Brooke) and the conversation was forgotten about. The chat then turned into uni moaning, deadline stressing and tutor bitching, something Scarlet was glad about. She’d just completed her first Philosophy essay of the year and she desperately wanted to impress her tutor after achieving good marks last year, so she vented to the girls about her worries.
“None of you will believe the conversation we had with Silky when we were at the pub the other night,” Yvie began, Scarlet already laughing as she’d heard this story before. “So she got this essay back and her tutor gave her like…52 or fifty something, it was a low mark at least. And Silk starts going off like ‘Well! I know it was a good essay! It don’t matter! I’ll just do another one!’. Like…! I had to be like 'Well it kinda does matter, bitch, it’s your whole fucking degree!’”
The girls at the table howled with laughter, glad of a cautionary tale and a distraction from their own performance at uni.
“I worry about Silky sometimes,” Brooke frowned, peeling off a small bit of her croissant and eating it.
“Silky will be fine,” Plastique reassured her through her last mouthful of granola. “At the very least she’ll get a job for a local paper and she’ll get paid to write controversial opinion pieces all day.”
“Ugh, let’s not talk about grad jobs,” Scarlet sighed, the thought of having to find something to do once she finished uni making her heart palpitate. Yvie smiled, reaching out and taking Scarlet’s hand.
“You’ll be fine. It’s these two you’ve gotta worry about.”
“Oh, thanks so much,” Brooke Lynn folded her arms together and narrowed her eyes at her flatmate.
“Well. More Brooke than Plastique. She’s always got the option of living at home and getting spoiled for the rest of her life.”
“Getting suffocated, you mean,” Plastique pouted, leaning back in her seat.
“What are you going to do after you graduate?” Scarlet asked Yvie, at once interested. Yvie tilted her head and thought.
“Forensics. Or actually, I’d quite like to work at a mortuary. Something with dead bodies,” she shrugged, Plastique wrinkling her nose.
“You’re a spooky bitch,” she recoiled, Yvie laughing in that deep, Disney-Villan way that Scarlet secretly loved.
“And what, bitch? And what? Anyway,” she took a sip of her diet coke. “I don’t need to worry about jobs yet. That goes for all of us. We don’t need to think about that shit til January.”
“It’s already October!” Scarlet cried, her eyes wide and fearful. Yvie, she noted, had still not let go of her hand, as she gave it a squeeze and laughed.
“Guys, let’s not be dramatic, we will all be fine,” Brooke shook her head, finishing the last of her croissant. Her comment stung Scarlet a little and she shrank back in her chair, suddenly inhibited and self-conscious.
“Well, this was lovely but we’d better get to the lib,” Plastique shrugged, pulling out her purse. Scarlet had a sudden thought. Maybe the others would start to warm up to her if she took care of the financial aspect of friendship every now and then. A lunch here, a round of drinks there. If she started to show some generosity, then maybe the girls would start to like her more.
“Hey, I’ll treat us!” she smiled, causing all three girls to whip round and stare at Scarlet as if she had sprouted an extra head. She immediately regretted her decision. Was this too suspicious? She gave a fake laugh. “My Mum sent me some money earlier this week and said to treat me and some friends to dinner. It’s not dinner, but it’s close enough?”
To her relief, Brooke and Plastique raised their eyebrows and shrugged. Brooke sent her a warm smile from across the table. “Well lucky us! Thanks, Scarlet. That’s cute.”
Scarlet cast a glance to the girl beside her and saw Yvie looking at her with intrigue, her face deep in thought. Buoyed by Plastique and Brooke’s kindness, she stuck her tongue out at her.
“Well am I going halfers with you, then?”
Yvie relaxed, giving a laugh and pushing Scarlet a little. “Oh my God, no, I’ll take what I can get of course. Thanks, baby.”
Scarlet’s heart gave a little explosion. This was a pet name she hadn’t heard from Yvie before, and she would be lying if she said it didn’t make her skin prickle and her blood feel hot in her veins. She wished she could stop smiling, but found herself unable to.
Scarlet paid and the girls all filed out of the cafe, saying goodbye with tight hugs and cheek kisses and promises to see each other later at the pres that Vanjie was hosting. When Brooke and Plastique said goodbye to her, Scarlet could have sworn their smiles were wider than usual, and she was sure that Yvie had hugged her extra tight. Scarlet was so happy that she headed straight into town, treating herself to a new outfit for the night ahead from a shop she would never usually even set foot into. She was in the changing rooms trying it on when the group chat went off again.

After a little shopping trip, a nap, a small, solo getting-ready party and absolutely no uni work, Scarlet found herself in a taxi on her way to Vanessa’s flat, fiddling with the hem of her new dress that popped out from under her parka and wondering to herself if it was too short. She had bought the biggest bottle of gin she could find in the supermarket, not thinking twice about dropping £40 on it, and a small half bottle of tequila. Tonight would be a big one if she had anything to do with it. Scarlet was excited- she hated always being that person that had to borrow money for the entry fee, the only person who couldn’t buy drinks for everyone in the club, the person that got bought pity shots because she couldn’t afford a drink. Tonight, things would be different.
She arrived at the girls’ flat and pressed the buzzer, the music from Akeria’s room pouring out of the second-floor window already. Scarlet wasn’t that late- Vanessa had said 9 and it was only half past, but already she could hear the girls upstairs drunkenly singing along to Pitbull. There was suddenly a loud buzz from the intercom and Scarlet found the front door swinging open. She jogged up the stairs, taking them two at a time in her white trainers, and was greeted with a tight hug from Akeria, whose eyes were already considerably glassy. Scarlet was led through to Akeria’s huge, fairy-lights-and-mirrors covered room, where a huge cheer went up from the girls inside at her arrival. Plastique, Nina and Brooke Lynn were all sat on the edge of Akeria’s huge bed, and Silky and Vanessa were on the worn, purple carpet beside them, making a semicircle. Yvie was sat on the small sofa opposite the bed, dressed in a black lace jumpsuit that caused Scarlet’s pulse to race. Smiling and raising up the bottle of gin from her bag, Scarlet laughed as another cheer exploded in the room. She stepped carefully over the dwindling pack of cards that formed a circle around a pint glass full of a liquid that looked absolutely vile, and sat on the sofa beside Yvie, shrugging her jacket off.
“Hey,” Yvie smiled, flipping her septum piercing in and out of her nose absent-mindedly. “You look nice. I like this.”
Scarlet felt her cheeks heat up as Yvie momentarily touched her bare thigh, fiddling with the material at the hem of Scarlet’s dress. Scarlet rolled her shoulders back and flipped some of her hair over one. “Thanks! Just got it today. You look so good!”
“God, this old thing?” Yvie put a hand to her chest and laughed, Scarlet joining in until Akeria squashed herself down on the sofa beside her.
“Thanks for stealing my space,” she said unamused and giving Scarlet a quick once-over with her eyes. “Here, I got you a glass.”
Scarlet thanked her and poured herself out a measure of gin and lemonade which was approximately 40% gin and 60% mixer. She watched as Vanjie pulled out a card from the deck and a huge roar went up from the girls, a King staring back at the girl’s disappointed face.
“Aw, fuck my life!”
“Get it down, girl!” Yvie laughed, delighting in the other girl’s anguish.
“Vanjie, I’ll drink half if you really don’t want to,” came Brooke’s voice, the groans of objection from the other girls almost making Scarlet miss the grateful smile that Vanjie shot Brooke’s way.
“Um, no the fuck you won’t, bitch!” Yvie piped up again, outraged.
“Yeah this ain’t fuckin’ I’m A Celebrity, drink the damn thing!” Silky all but screamed, the girls chanting as Vanjie raised the glass to her lips and tilted it, some of whatever was in it dripping down her chin and spilling onto her black vinyl skirt. In under ten seconds, the glass was empty and the room was cheering, Vanjie giving a triumphant smile and wiping at her mouth with a somewhat flailing arm.
“Okay, next game!” Plastique demanded, thumping her knees.
“Question game,” Nina said instantly in a monotone voice, some girls cheering and some girls groaning. Scarlet’s heart dropped.
“Noo, please! Last time we played this I got my chat nickname, and it’s fucking horrific.”
“What, when you had to tell everyone that you were the one who left the used tampon in our toilet?” Yvie laughed, and Scarlet felt herself blush to the roots of her hair.
“It wouldn’t flush!! And I wasn’t about to leave it lying at the top of your bin, was I?!” she cried, Yvie laughing and pulling her into her side for a hug. Scarlet supposed the embarrassment was worth it.
“Okay, no tampon-themed questions, guys,” Akeria laughed, the others muttering a laugh around her. “Remember, if you stumble, you answer and drink, if it’s a shit question, you answer and drink-”
“Akeria! We’re in third year! We know how the fuck the game works!” Brooke exclaimed, the other girl narrowing her eyes at her.
“I’m out to get you now, bitch,” she said forebodingly, Yvie “oooooh”-ing spookily beside Scarlet and making her laugh. “Who’s starting?”
“Me!” Silky yelled, and launched into her first question before anyone could object. “Akeria, who was the last person you fucked?”
“Nina, have you ever got with a stranger in the club?” she immediately fired across the room, the other girl’s face dropping in surprise.
“Vanjie, where’s the worst place you’ve had sex?”
“Plastique, would you ever go there with Ariel?” she yelled, her face relaxing in relief that the heat was off her. Plastique, who had been taking a drink at the time, choked, and a chorus of cheers went up as the girls realised she’d have to answer. Scarlet felt for Plastique as a red prickly heat began to spread across her chest and neck.
“I mean,” she began, her voice suddenly quiet. “I guess? Like maybe it would be weird but…whatever. Yes. It’d be fun, and we wouldn’t be awkward about it the next day. And I wouldn’t have to do the walk of shame. I’d just go across the hall to my own room. So it’s convenient.“
“So the fact that she’s hot just doesn’t come into it?” Brooke deadpanned, a bomb of laughter exploding in the room and Brooke receiving an elbow in the ribs for her trouble. Scarlet could relax for the small amount of time the game wasn’t being played. She always lived in terrible fear that someone would bring up the weird sort of relationship that she and Yvie had, and she really didn’t want to have to address it. Finishing her drink, Plastique began again.
“Nina, what’s the biggest dick you’ve ever taken?”
“Brooke, anal: thoughts?”
Brooke laughed as she attempted to get her question out. “Scarlet, have you ever had inappropriate thoughts about someone in this room?”
FUCK. “Akeria, what’s the youngest you’d ever go?”
“Plastique, have you ever done speed?”
“Yvie, what’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever masturbated with?”
“The hell?” Yvie scrunched up her face and laughed, before moving on quickly. “Brooke, if you could fuck anyone in this room, who would it be?”
Scarlet’s mouth dropped open as she watched Brooke’s face turn white. “Silky, um…uh…oh, fuck! I had one!”
The room descended into chaos as everyone realised Brooke would have to answer the question. Scarlet jumped as she suddenly felt Yvie lean in to her side and whisper in her ear.
“How many times do we have to play this game at pres before Brooke answers with Vanessa? She has to at some point, right?”
Scarlet laughed and sat forward eagerly to hear Brooke’s answer, noticing Vanjie looking at her intently out of the corner of her eye.
“Um…” Brooke began, then laughed and took Nina’s hand. “I’m going to say Nina. Because she would make you a cup of tea afterwards and breakfast in the morning, and really what more would you want?”
Scarlet didn’t miss the way Vanjie’s smile turned into a fake one and something shut down behind her eyes. With a pang of empathy, she narrowed her eyes at Brooke and shook her head. “Shit answer!”
Brooke and Nina fixed their surprised gazes on Scarlet as the other girls laughed and some of them agreed. Nina raised her eyebrows in mock-offence. “Scarlet, I’m offended! Are you saying I would be a shit fuck!”
Scarlet felt panic rise in her chest. “No, I-”
Nina burst out laughing. “I’m only kidding, you’re right, it was a shit answer.”
Scarlet joined in with the laughter and shouts that filled the room, confidence spiking again. Brooke soon started the game once more. As things progressed, the girls got more and more drunk and more and more loud, and Scarlet’s gin and tequila got passed around the room, everyone appreciative of free alcohol. As they drank more, Scarlet felt herself and Yvie grow closer together on the sofa until she was practically in the other girl’s lap. The only problem was, as everyone drank more, they all became less on the ball with coming up with questions rapidly.
“Akeria, how do you really feel about Silky?”
“Plastique, what’s your net worth?”
“Scarlet, gaaah, have you ever had a sexy dream about someone in this room?”
“Silky, have you ever farted in bed?”
“Oh my God, y'all nasty! Yvie, have you ever fantasised about anyone in this room?”
“Nina, where was the last time that you…I mean, when was the last place…god damn it!” Yvie exclaimed, jeers filling the room as Yvie blushed uncharacteristically. Scarlet’s interest was piqued. With a small jab of annoyance, she’d wished that Silky had asked who Yvie had fantasised about, but then she’d maybe get an answer she didn’t want to hear.
“Um. Yeah. Obviously! I mean, haven’t we all?” Yvie shrugged, trying to play the question off casually. Scarlet felt her heart speed up in her chest. Akeria raised an eyebrow and leaned back against the arm of the sofa.
“Haven’t we all imagined ourselves in a sexual situation with one of our friends? I don’t think you’re gonna like the answer to that,” she chuckled, Plastique howling with laughter.
“Unless your name’s Brooke or Vanessa,” Yvie shrugged, the girls all descending into screeches of laughter, Silky’s being the loudest as she got up from the floor and started jumping on an unimpressed Akeria’s bed. Scarlet looked at Brooke, who was eyeing Yvie darkly with a tight smile on her face. Yvie cleared her throat beside Scarlet, her eyes expressing regret as if she’d gone too far. Changing the subject, she asked the next question. “Uh, Akeria, what’s your body count?”
“Nina, what’s going on with you and Monet from your course?”
“Ah, oh, um,” Nina began, flustered. She shut her eyes tightly. “Brooke, what’s the dirtiest text you’ve ever sent?”
“Plastique, how many nudes have you sent?”
“Vanjie, who’s the most fuckable person in this room?”
Vanjie screwed up her face and gestured in disbelief. “Shit question, bitch.”
Shouts of objection filled the room. Vanessa put her hands out in front of herself in protest.
“Now, now, now, wait a damn minute! It’s only shit because there’s an obvious answer,” she shrugged, taking a sip of Scarlet’s gin that she’d mixed with her Fanta. As everybody waited with baited breath, she rolled her eyes. “Brooke Lynn. Duh.”
As if it was Wembley Stadium at full time, the room exploded with cheers and roars, and Scarlet doubled over giggling. Brooke was laughing but her face had gone beetroot red, and Vanjie was smiling, pleased she’d elicited such a reaction. Scarlet felt herself fall into Yvie’s side as she laughed. This was great! She was having such a good time!
There was a sudden three bangs on the front door out in the hall, silencing the room and making Scarlet jump. Many of the girls giggled anxiously as Akeria threw her hands up and shook her head.
“Nope! No, I got the last three, I am not getting this one as well.”
“Bitch! Lemme at ‘em,” Silky exclaimed, getting up from her position on the floor. There was silence in which some of the girls (mostly Plastique) made inappropriate comments to try and get everyone to laugh, while they listened through the door to Silky, Vanessa and Akeria’s upstairs neighbour rant and rave about how he had work in the morning, and how this was the fourth time in two weeks, and how next time it would be the police that would get called. As she giggled, Scarlet felt Yvie take her hand and squeeze it, the other girl laughing evilly under her breath and making her laugh even more.
Fuck. Scarlet was beginning to realise her friendship with Yvie wasn’t strictly a friendship anymore.
The bang from the front door caused everyone to jump, and Silky was back in the room almost as quickly as she’d left.
“RIGHT bitches, c’mon, you heard the man, drink up, move, move, move!”
And with that, Scarlet tugged Yvie up from her position on the sofa, ready for the night that lay ahead and all the regrets and consequences that could accompany it.

Author’s Note: Well, this took way longer than I had anticipated to get this chapter up. Life’s been crazy and I wasn’t happy with the first draft, so I ended up rewriting large chunks of it. I have an outline mapped out for the next chapter, so I’m hoping it won’t take as long to get it done. Hope you all enjoy it! Like, reblog, or comment if you do!

The next morning I was feeling much more optimistic. I had finally gotten Sweet Pea off my back, I felt like a badass after displaying my skills at the bar the night before, and I was starting to come around on the idea of making friends.
I was generally fairly cheerful as I plopped into my seat at the beginning of first period, a Monster energy drink in hand. Toni and Cheryl joined a few moments later. As soon as they had sat down, Toni started slow clapping. “October Addams, you are my hero.”
I smiled shyly, a blush warming my cheeks. “It wasn’t that big of a deal.”
“Are you serious?” She asked incredulously. “You put Pea to shame! I could kiss you on the mouth right now!” Cheryl shot her daggers. “I’m joking, love.” Toni placed a hand on Cheryl’s cheek and she calmed. I watched them as they shared a moment, staring lovingly into each other’s eyes. It was ruined as Sweet Pea showed up, pulling the black beanie off of Toni’s head and mussing her hair.
“You actually drink that shit?” He said to me, eyeing the can on my desk as he sat down. I snatched the hat from him and tossed it back to Toni.
“I wasn’t in the mood for coffee,” I replied dully. I took a long sip from the energy drink, enjoying the way his lips pulled back in disgust.
The rest of the day I received a lot of congratulations and pats on the back from other Serpents. Honestly, I felt like a hero. The best part was Sweet Pea’s face when he overheard some of the things people said to me. He looked angry, but from the redness in his cheeks I could see he was mostly embarrassed, which only made me happier.
The following days were pretty much the same, and the longer it went on, the angrier Sweet Pea got. A part of me felt slightly bad for him, until he started intimidating people into shutting up. It didn’t take much: a few threats, a dark scowl here or there, his looming presence. The Serpents knew Sweet Pea well enough to know that, even though they were his family, he would still knock a few of their heads together if he needed to. By Friday everyone had forgotten, or at least pretended to forget, about the pool game, even Sweet Pea it seemed.
He had slowly returned to calling me pet names like “sunshine” and “babydoll” and standing too close to me for comfort. He even started playing with my hair and putting his arm around me whenever he had the chance. This usually prompted a forceful shove or rough punch in the chest from myself.
By the following week he had escalated to putting his hand on my knee when he sat next to me at lunch or at the Whyte Wyrm and telling me how cute I was when I was angry.
Jughead and Fangs did their best to keep Sweet Pea in line, but Toni seemed to be the only one he would really listen to. All it took was one look from the sprite-like girl and Sweet Pea would cease whatever it was he was doing to annoy me.
I had spent most nights since meeting Toni and the others at the Wyrm or the quarry with the rest of the Serpents, drinking and dancing. I was really enjoying getting to know them. There seemed to be a lot more younger members than the older generation, and I found out quickly it was due to a rival gang called the Ghoulies. There had been a gang war that left half the trailer park in ruins and several Serpents in jail. Many of the older generation had left town. Some, I learned, had even joined the Ghoulies. The younger Serpents held strong, however. Jughead had rallied the troupes, and it didn’t take long to rebuild the trailer park. They recruited a few new members as well, people like Cheryl who had helped out in their time of need.
It was easy to see how close they all were. It wasn’t just my little group of friends, but all of them. If one person drank a little too much, another one was there to hold their hair back while they puked and make sure they got home safely. If someone got into an argument at school, there were at least three other people at their back, ready to throw a fist. They really were a family. When one member hurt, they all hurt.
Spending so much time around them all started to make my heart ache. It had been so long since I had felt like I was part of a family, and I desperately wanted to join them. They made me feel not only accepted, but wanted. They enjoyed having me around, and I loved being there. I loved being at the quarry, just sitting around drinking and talking, sharing war stories and showing off scars. At the Wyrm I would team up with Fangs—and occasionally Sweet Pea, if he wasn’t being a complete ass—to con some poor sucker who hadn’t witnessed my talents into playing pool and forfeiting their cash. Other times Cheryl and I would dance around the jukebox while Toni slung beer and liquor at the bar. On the couple of nights where I opted to stay home and work on schoolwork, I would be asked by several people the following day where I had been and told over and over again that my presence was missed.
By the time Friday morning came around I was starting to toy with the idea of becoming a real member, but I was apprehensive. It was a big commitment. I knew the initiation was brutal and Serpent law was stone. A serpent never sheds its skin. If i joined, I was in for life. I kept my thoughts to myself—I didn’t want to mention it to Toni or Fangs if I was just going to chicken out later. I vowed to take my time with my decision and not rush into anything.
At school on Friday, Sweet Pea was being particularly aggressive in his quest for my attention. In first period he passed me a note that said “date tonight?” I crumpled it up and threw it at his head without responding, and I heard him snicker under his breath. In our next period he tugged on the ends of my hair as I hunched over my textbook. I slapped his hands away, but he persisted until I finally tied my hair into a bun at the back of my neck.
In the halls between periods he hung around my locker and walked along closely behind me. At lunch I sandwiched myself between Toni and Fangs and Sweet Pea sat directly across from me. He nudged his foot against mine a few times until I kicked him sharply in the shin. It didn’t seem to bother him, though he winced. He just continued to smile at me.
P.E. wasn’t any better. Sweet Pea jogged alongside me as we ran our laps for warm up. He didn’t even say anything, which bugged me even more. Afterwords we were placed on opposite teams for dodgeball. Sweet Pea was a maniac. He managed to get out everyone on my team almost single-handedly, and if anyone on his team tried to throw a ball at me, he would chuck one at their head, even after he was sidelined by Coach Waddell.
Eventually it came down to just the two of us facing off. We stared each other down, each holding a red rubber dodgeball. I held my ball level with my chest, ready to block his throw. But it didn’t come. Sweet Pea straightened up, smiling, and dropped his ball. He opened his arms wide, welcoming my shot. I channeled all my anger at the tall boy, letting my muscles tense up. I threw the ball as hard as I could at Sweet Pea. It landed with a thud in his stomach. He doubled over with a groan and everyone on my team cheered loudly for my victory.
I took my time showering and changing in the locker room, hoping to avoid Sweet Pea until the end-of-period bell rang. When I returned to the gym it had cleared out, and I headed out into the hallway.
Sweet Pea was leaning against my locker. As I made my way down the hallway towards him his eyes trailed up and down my body, taking in the thigh-high boots and tight leather dress. I was immediately on edge. I nudged him out of the way with my hip so I could open the locker and retrieve my book for the next period. I saw out of the corner of my eye that he was staring at the three inches of exposed skin between the hem of my dress and the top of my boots. He reached out and brushed his fingers lightly across the tattoo there. “How many tattoos do you have?”
I slapped his hand away, ignoring his question. “What do you want, Sweet Pea?”
“You. Tonight. I’ll pick you up at seven?”
I slammed my locker loudly. “What is your problem? We had a deal. I beat you at pool and you stop hitting on me.”
His dark hair fell into his eyes as he looked down at me with a smirk. “Yeah, but the way I see it, you cheated.”
“I won fair and square,” I hissed, poking him roughly in the chest. He grabbed my finger and managed to entwine his fingers around mine.
He chuckled. “You hustled me and you know it.” I tried to pull my hand from his grasp, but he held it tightly. “Come on, sweetness. Just one date. That’s all I’m asking for.”
I flipped our hands over so our knuckles were pointing to the floor and bent his wrist back as sharply as I could. He yelped in pain and let go of my hand, but there was a spark in his eyes. It was like the more aggressive I was at rejecting his advances, the more determined he was.
“Listen up, Sweet Pea, because I’m only going to say this once. You’re insanely attractive, so I’m sure you’re used to girls fawning all over you. And you’ve probably never had to try this hard before. I know you’re trying your best to be what you probably think is ‘charming’ even though all you’re doing is coming off as a cocky, misogynistic prick. You probably think that if you just keep pestering me I’ll eventually give in and go on a date with you just to get you off my back.” I took a step closer to him, and grabbed his dog tags, pulling his face close to mine so he could see the ice in my eyes. My lip curled back in a snarl and I dropped my voice low, each word dripping with venom. “But news flash: I am not the type of girl to give in, especially to guys like you. So if you’d like to keep your face as pretty as it is, leave me the fuck alone. I’m done being nice.” I shoved him away hard and stormed down the hallway.
I was grateful I didn’t share my next period with Sweet Pea. I spent the hour silently fuming and trying to focus on the lesson. The minutes ticked by agonizingly slowly until finally, it was time for study hall. Certain that Sweet Pea would be there—he hadn’t missed a single class since I started at Riverdale—I decided to skip, making my way to the student lounge instead.
When I entered the room I spotted Jughead sitting alone on the couch as he typed furiously on his laptop. He looked up as I approached and closed the Macbook.
“Hey,” he greeted, as I settled into an adjacent armchair. I grumbled a hello in return, still in a bad mood. “Everything okay?” Jug asked, an eyebrow cocked. My own brow furrowed and he could tell by the fury on my face that everything was not, in fact, okay. “You wanna talk about it?”
I inhaled a deep breath, trying to remain calm. It didn’t really work. “What is Sweet Pea’s problem?” I snapped. “Why won’t he just leave me alone?”
Jughead sat up straighter. He thought for a moment, choosing his words carefully. “Well,” he started slowly, “for one, Sweet Pea doesn’t really understand the concept of boundaries.”
“Obviously.” I muttered.
He grinned and adjusted his beanie. “He also doesn’t handle rejection well. He nearly kicked my ass when I first refused to join the Serpents.” I rolled my eyes. Of course he did. If there was one thing I had learned over the past couple of days it was that Sweet Pea’s answer to everything was violence. I had heard the stories from people in class about the Riverdale Rumble between the Serpents and the bulldogs, led—of course—by Sweet Pea; the trashing of the school the night of the riots; how ready Sweet Pea was at all times to start throwing punches. I had seen it myself just the week before when Reggie had grabbed me. Sweet Pea was ready to kick Reggie’s teeth in. I had seen the bruises on his knuckles, the black eye and cuts on his face—clear evidence that he had been in a fight recently.
“But honestly?” Jughead continued, “I think he’s really into you. He won’t shut up about you. It’s kind of annoying actually.”
“That’s not my problem!” I exclaimed in frustration. “I have made it perfectly clear that I am not interested in him.”
“Do you want me to talk to him? He probably won’t listen to me, but I can try to get him to back off.”
I shook my head. “No. Thank you, but I’d rather deal with this on my own.”
Jug shrugged, “Hope that works out for you.” He smirked and I couldn’t help but smile back. I threw a pillow at his head. He caught it mid air and threw it back at me. It hit me in the face and I laughed. Then I stood, pulling my messenger bag over my shoulder, ready to leave.
“Thanks for making me feel better, Juggie.” He saluted me and opened his laptop as I headed out the door.
It was around five o’clock that night when there was a knock on my trailer door. I had been unpacking the last of my boxes, tacking up posters and arranging Funko Pop figures and other sentimental knickknacks on the shabby bookshelf I had found at a Goodwill in town.
I tugged the hem of my shirt down over my exposed belly as I opened the door. The tall, leather-clad figure in my doorway immediately turned my contented grin into a scowl. Sweet Pea was holding a bouquet of pink and white flowers.
“Hi,” he said quietly. His head hung low and he looked a bit like a puppy who had just been caught peeing on the carpet. I tried to slam the door in his face but he caught it before I could and held it open.
I continued to glare at him. “I thought I made myself clear.”
“You did. I’m here to apologize.” He attempted to hand me the flowers but I refused to take them.
“Really?” I asked dubiously.
“Yeah. I’ve been an dick, and I’m really sorry.” He looked at me with those sad, brown, puppy dog eyes. My heart started to soften slightly before I remembered who I was talking to. When I didn’t say anything he continued, “I was hoping you’d let me buy you food and that maybe we could be friends?”
“So this is another trick to get me to go on a date with you?”
“No!” He insisted, “I’m done with that, I swear. I really am sorry.” I bit my lip. Did I believe him? Not entirely. But I was hungry, and I figured if he was genuine it was better to try and get along for the sake of my friends than to go on hating him.
“Fine,” I finally agreed. His face lit up and he pulled a stray ant off of one of the pink blooms before handing me he flowers again. I took them this time. “How did you know peonies were my favorite?” I asked skeptically.
“I didn’t,” he answered, rubbing his hand over the back of his neck sheepishly. “I, uh, cut them off of a bush in my neighbor’s yard on my way over. I just thought they were pretty.”
I bit back a smile as I opened the door wider. I stepped back, allowing him to enter my trailer. He closed the door behind him and I went in search of something to put the peonies in. I didn’t own a vase, but I did have a pitcher. I pulled it out of one of the kitchen cupboards and filled it with water from the sink. As I placed the flowers in the water I noticed Sweet Pea looking around my living room. He was eyeing my collection of books and movies on the bookshelf.
I cleared my throat to get his attention. His head jerked in my direction. “Let me change and then we can go.” I brushed past him into my bedroom and shut the door behind me. I pulled off  the school sweatshirt I had found in my gym locker the week before, now cropped with the sleeves cut off, which I had thrown on after school. I tossed it into my hamper in the corner and pulled a black fuzzy sweater from my closet, tugging it over my head. I exchanged my black Ouija board printed joggers for red plaid skinny jeans. I grabbed a silver snake ring from the trinket tray on my bedside table and placed it on my middle finger, then pulled on a pair of platform boots adorned with bat wings and headed back to the living room.
Sweet Pea was perched on the edge of my sagging couch, but he stood when I entered the room. I grabbed my keys from the kitchen counter and my helmet from where it sat on the reading chair next to the couch. Sweet Pea followed me out of the trailer and I locked the door behind us. We both walked to our respective Harleys. When he saw me straddle my bike he spoke up. “You don’t have to—“
I cut him off, “I’m not riding on the back of your bike, Sweet Pea.” I pulled my helmet over my head and started the engine. He did the same, and I followed him out of Sunnyside trailer park. We drove a few streets over to Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe and parked our bikes side by side.
We ordered cheeseburgers, milkshakes, and a basket of fries to share, and sat in awkward silence until Pop brought out our food. “So…” I began, sipping at my peanut butter milkshake. Sweet Pea nodded, popping a fry into his mouth. I continued, “You got me here, now what?”
“You could tell me about yourself.” I picked up my cheeseburger and took a monster-sized bite.
“Whuyowanno?” I asked, mouth full, ketchup smearing my lips. Sweet Pea laughed at my unladylike behavior and I grinned back at him as I chewed.
“Why did you come to Riverdale?” He asked.
I swallowed before replying. “Next question.”
“Okay… where are your parents? I haven’t seen them around.”
“Next question,” I repeated.
“That’s too personal?” He questioned. “Alright, something easy then. Favorite book?”
“Peter Pan.” I squirted mustard on my plate and dipped a fry in it before taking a bite.
Sweet Pea looked at me incredulously. “Am I really only going to get one word answers?”
I grinned smugly. “Peter Pan is two words.” I read the question is Sweet Pea’s face without him needing to ask it. I sighed. “My mom used to read it to me when I was a kid. It was the first play I was ever in. I don’t know. It’s just my favorite, okay?” He sat in silence, watching me intently and eating his food. I went on, “what kid doesn’t love Peter Pan? Fairies, mermaids, pirates. Neverland was paradise to me as a kid. It just kind of stuck with me. And you?”
“Harry Potter,” he replied with a big smile. “I always wanted to be a wizard.”
I chuckled, “Let me guess… you’re a Slytherin?”
“Absolutely.” He nodded proudly. “I’d guess that you are, too.”
“Is it that obvious?” I said sarcastically, flipping my emerald hair over my shoulder and wiggling my green fingernails and snake ring in front of his face.
He laughed and threw a French fry at me. “Favorite movie?”
“Too many to pick just one. But horror movies are my favorite genre.”
“Do you have a favorite horror movie?”
I thought a moment. “Either Scream or Nightmare on Elm Street.”
“So you like Wes Craven?”
“I love Wes Craven.” I said emphatically. Sweet Pea nodded his approval.
“You’re kind of a nerd, aren’t you?”
“Why do you say that?” I asked with a frown.
“You have a lot of nerd stuff in your trailer.” Sweet Pea cocked his head at me, an eyebrow raised.
“Define ‘nerd stuff.’” I said defiantly.
“Star Wars posters, those weird little toy things—“
“My pop figures?” He nodded. He had a point there, my collection was expansive. Most of them were still packed away in boxes, but I had at least two dozen on display already.
“Most of your movies are sci-fi or horror or superheroes. You have a bunch of comic books. And I’m pretty sure you have more books than the library at South Side High.”
I scoffed. “Psh. That’s not even half of them.” Sweet Pea laughed and stared at me with puzzled admiration. “Why is it such a surprise to you that I’m a nerd?”
He shrugged, “I don’t know, I thought you were, like, goth or punk or something.”
I glared. “Why? Because I wear a lot of black?”
“Well… yeah. And it seems like you’re really into all that ouija board and satanic stuff.”
Jesus Christ, you try to smudge a dude’s aura one time and everyone thinks you worship the devil.
“Okay, first of all, I’m not a Satanist, I’m Wiccan. Second of all, don’t assume things about me. I am whatever I am whenever I am it. And thirdly,” my voice was getting louder by this point, “who the fuck says goths can’t be nerds too?”
Sweet Pea laughed, raising his hands in defense. “Alright, I’m sorry, pumpkin.” I sucked furiously at my milkshake while glaring. “For the record, I like that you’re a nerd. I think it’s awesome.” He smiled sweetly and my scowl softened slightly.
We sat there for a while, talking about our favorite music (mine: pop/punk; his: classic rock), best birthday memories (his was his fifteenth when Toni and Fangs threw him a surprise party at the Wyrm, the first time he felt like he had a family; mine was my eighth when my mom took me to Disney World and I ate so much junk food that I threw up on the Tower of Terror), and favorite holidays (we both loved Halloween).
I had to admit, when he wasn’t being a cocky dickwad, Sweet Pea was a pretty decent guy. We had a lot in common it turned out and he was actually really funny. He told me embarrassing stories about himself, like the time in middle school when he was dared to go streaking at the drive-in and ran headfirst into a little old lady who started hitting him relentlessly with her handbag like she was straight out of a bad sitcom. I laughed uncontrollably at that.
“It hurt!” Sweet Pea insisted, “I had bruises for weeks!”
By the time Pop came by to clear away our empty plates, the sun had almost completely set. I knew we should probably head out, but to be honest, I wasn’t ready to leave yet. I was surprised that I was genuinely enjoying myself.
I looked up into Sweet Pea’s face. His eyes were warm and comforting, like hot chocolate on a snowy day, and his hair fell in his face in a way that made me want to reach up and brush it back. He looked back at me in a way that made my stomach churn and I averted my eyes, dropping my gaze to the remaining dregs of milkshake in my glass.
I cleared my throat. “My mom died four years ago,” I revealed.
“Huh?” He asked, confused by my seemingly random admission.
I looked back up at him. Sweet Pea’s brows were furrowed, creating a crease between them. “You asked where my parents were. My mom died in a car accident when I was thirteen.”
“Oh, god, October.” He reached out, placing a large hand over my curled fist. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to—“
I shook my head vigorously, “it’s fine. You didn’t know.” I was quiet for a moment as I worked to keep the pain out of my voice. “She was everything to me. Losing her was one of the most…” I trailed off, unable to finish the thought.
I pulled my hand away from where it was still resting on the table under Sweet Pea’s and wrapped my arms around myself. My fingertips slowly stroked the fuzzy fabric of my sweater.
“Is your dad…” Sweet Pea started. I shook my head.
“I never knew him. He walked out on my mom when she was pregnant with me.” He nodded knowingly.
“Same with mine. A couple guys tried to fill his place but Mom never found one that stuck around very long. Most of them were pretty worthless anyway. Drank a lot, yelled a lot. Never bothered me much when they left, but I think it took its toll on my mom. She eventually just gave up. We’ve been on our own since I was fourteen.” His openness stunned me. It was the most honest thing I had ever heard from Sweet Pea. He didn’t seem like the type of person to talk about personal things, especially with someone he had only met a couple of weeks prior. But here he was, telling me his life story, or part of it, at least. “Did your mom ever…”
“Nope. Never dated, never got married, didn’t even have a lot of friends. It was always just me and her against the world.” I played with my straw wrapper, tearing it into pieces. I hadn’t been this open with anyone in a long time, and I wasn’t sure why I was being so open with Sweet Pea. I hadn’t even told Toni about my mom and we had talked basically every day since we met. I chewed my lip.
Sweet Pea could tell I was feeling uncomfortable, but he wasn’t going to let me shut down just yet. “Where did you go after your mom… uh… y’know…?”  A blush crawled up his cheeks like he was embarrassed and he looked down at the table.
I took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “My mom’s sister and her husband took me in. I lived with them until about three months ago.”
“Why did you leave?” My throat started to close up and tears burned my eyes.
“Something happened…” I began, but stopped. It was too much. My vision started to blur and I felt like I was leaving my body. I began to hyperventilate. My head swam with memories of a different life, of a night filled with horror. There were voices screaming in my head and the tears poured down my face.
Sweet Pea practically jumped out of his seat and scrambled around the table to come sit next to me. He placed his hands on my shoulders. “October, it’s okay,” he cooed, “you’re alright. I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. It’s okay. It’s alright. You’re okay.” He began petting my hair and called to Pop for a glass of water.
I struggled to steady my breathing. I clutched at the glass Pop brought over, raising the straw to my lips. Taking slow breaths through my nose, I sipped at the ice water, focusing on the feeling of it moving down my throat, cooling my insides. I took a few more shaky breaths.
Once the panic attack had passed, I was embarrassed. I curled into myself, unable to look Sweet Pea in the eye. He stood, tossing a few bills on the table to cover our check. He held a hand out to me and I took it, allowing him to hep me out of the booth and out the door.
He picked my helmet up from where it was hanging off my handlebars and led me to his motorcycle.
“But my bike.” I mumbled.
“We’ll get it tomorrow. I don’t think you should be driving right now.” As I was still pretty shaken, I nodded, and climbed on the bike behind him. I pulled my helmet on and wrapped my arms around his torso. I clutched at him tightly; I wasn’t fond of riding on the back of other people’s motorcycles. I didn’t like the feeling of not being in control, of putting my life in someone else’s hands, and this moment—after a panic attack, when I had already lost all control and made a fool of myself—was possibly the worst time to be doing it. My thighs clung to his hips. I had never really thought about Sweet Pea’s body before, but pressing myself so tightly to it, I realized just how strong he was. His back was firm with muscles and I wondered briefly what it might look like under his black tee shirt and flannel.
I pushed the thought from my mind. Just because Sweet Pea was acting like a half decent human being for once didn’t mean I was attracted to him. I mean, yes, physically Sweet Pea was very attractive; anyone could see that. He was like the walking definition of tall, dark, and handsome. But he was still Sweet Pea—still the guy who spent the majority of the past two weeks relentlessly hitting on me and pissing me off. That didn’t change just because he bought me a burger and gave me a ride home.
We pulled up to my trailer then, and I quickly dismounted. I removed my helmet and muttered a quick, awkward word of thanks. I realized as I got to my door that he was following me. I turned to look at him questioningly.
“Movie?” He suggested.
“I’m going to bed,” I responded, shutting the door in his face.
I didn’t bother to take off my shoes as I fell onto my bed. There were a million thoughts racing through my mind, each too fleeting to consider very deeply. Is it possible I was wrong about Sweet Pea? What did he even see in me anyway? I wasn’t so great. I was complicated. I had baggage, a lot of it. I had secrets and issues and emotional problems. Why would anyone want to spend any time with me? Why would anyone want to get to know the real me? They wouldn’t like who they found. Buried under the too cool facade was a scared little girl, afraid to let people in, afraid they would find out the horrible thing she had done.

PART ONE // PART TWO //  PART THREE // PART FOUR // PART FIVE
Tumblr media
The bell rang and broke your reverie. Startled, you looked down at the blank pages of your notebook and frowned in annoyance. Your thoughts were fixated on something else completely and you spent the entire class on worrying instead of taking notes. You got up and shoved your things into the bag, mad at this asshole for having such a strong impact on your behaviour and emotional state. You rushed to your locker, hurriedly grabbing the things you would need at home and closed it a little bit too loud for your liking. You left the building in hopes of getting away before anyone else would have a chance to join you.
It was drizzling as if the weather decided to play a joke on you, knowing that you were already on verge of tears. You were cursing under your breath, wishing you'd brought a warmer jacket or an umbrella but some many things had been occupying your mind before leaving the home. You pressed the notebooks against your chest, securing your grip on them and desperately trying to hide the shakiness of your hands, a harsh aftermath of morning's fight.
As soon as you left the school area, the sound of a familiar car engine reached your ears. Taking a deep breath, you tried to calm your heart rate and made sure your voice was firm.
The car caught up with you and slowed down, matching your pace. Billy rolled down the window and motioned at you to get in.
"It's freezing, I'll take you home," he shouted over the sound of rain. The concern was thick in his voice and you couldn't help but feel bad again, knowing that a lot of things could have been handled better.
You stopped and so did his car. You were imagining all the different scenarios and things you would like to say to him during the classes but it quickly went to hell as you were confronted with him physically. You resisted the urge to look at his face, fearing that seeing his wounds would melt your heart too soon and you wouldn't accomplish anything productive.
"I'd rather walk, thank you," you replied, happy that your voice didn't break. You focused on the road ahead, the cold waterdrops sending shivers down your spine but you couldn't agree just yet. The silence was lingering and you were ready to continue walking when he spoke again.
"Can we talk?"
Despite the warning signs in your mind, you turned your head to look at him. He decided to hide the damage behind a pair of sunglasses but they didn't really work all too well when it came to covering the bruise. Its outlines were still if not more visible.
"Will it change anything?" you asked. You expected him to stand his ground but instead of lashing out at you he remained quiet for a few seconds, looking for right expressions.
"I hope so," he replied.
The words sounded sincere and you decided there was nothing to lose anymore. With a tired sigh, you opened the door on the passenger's side and jumped in. Billy started the engine and drove off with less energy than usual.
For the first minute or two, the silence in the car was overwhelming. He didn't even put on any music and that alone made you feel sick to your stomach. Neither of you wanted to speak first, the tension was tangible and you couldn't think of a proper way to start the topic. Looking for clues on his face, you took a glimpse at his profile and almost didn't recognize the man sitting beside you. His whole confidence was gone, he was jumpy and nervous and the cuts enhanced by the dark material of his glasses were only multiplying this impression.
"How long--"
"A while," he answered before you had a chance to finish your question. You made a mental note to avoid calling this situation for what it really was since he seemed reluctant to admit he'd fallen a victim to domestic violence.
"You really didn't try to tell anyone? Or seek help?" you continued the theme, carefully studying his face in search of distress. You were tracing on some thin ice and one wrong move could've ruined everything.
"Susan stays out of it," he shrugged it off. "And Max hates my guts, so."
You fought off the urge to remind him that his step-sister had every right to not be very fond of him. The fact that his father was an abusive asshole shined some light on a few things and allowed you to partially understand the reasoning behind his aggressive exterior and his general hesitation to change but you wouldn't accept this as an excuse and would still hold him accountable for the bullshit he pulled off. But maybe not while you were trying to get him to open up.
"And anyone besides them?" you asked.
He shook his head in response.
"Why?"
"Serving as a punching bag for my father isn't something I'd like to share with anyone, you know."
You looked down at your hands, trying to imagine yourself in this situation. It was easy to assume that you would've run to the Hopper's office and ask him for help but you didn't have nearly enough information to truthfully declare it. Last night made you aware of the emotions that Billy had buried deep inside to hide them from unwanted gaze. But what he had just admitted hinted at the worst and most powerful of them all: shame.
He must have felt so weak and disposable in his father's presence that he'd created another personality to show off at school. Putting on a mask and using it to intimidate everyone around him was making him less vulnerable. All the pain that he wanted to inflict on others originated in his own house, caused by the man that should have been his guardian.
But discovering the motive behind his violent ways didn't bring you peace, in reality, it made all the problems harder to resolve because you weren't simply changing his behaviour and inspiring him to do better. You were stripping him of his only coping mechanism and without replacing it with something healthy you could have done more harm than good.
Billy cleared his throat.
"I'm sorry for this morning. And for getting pretty rough at night."
Your eyes winded and you couldn't hold back a coy smile.
"Are you really apologizing to me?"
He chuckled and the sound of his laugh cleared out the tension, "Don't get used to it, princess."
He noticed your grin and took it as a sign of improvement. Without asking, he finally put on some music and you were beyond thankful for that. His hands were banging on the wheel, matching the rhythm of Ratt's "You're In Love". He couldn't have picked a better song and in moments like this, you were reminded of the reason why had you fallen in love with him in the first place.
"Where to, princess?" he asked, looking at you with an entirely different expression.
"Home," you replied. You didn't want to go back just yet especially when you had just made up with this idiot. "I have a test tomorrow."
He raised an eyebrow but didn't utter a single word. He didn't need to, you knew that he really wanted to make fun of you.
"I have a much better idea. Stay at my place tonight."
"Billy--"
"Say that you're staying at Stacey's. Susan and my father are out of town until tomorrow. And surprisingly Max actually likes you more than she likes me."
You laughed, amused by his poor choice of words.
"Oh, that's not surprising at all."
He scoffed and looked at you, locking his eyes with yours. Even the sunglasses weren't able to tone down the blue of his iris and you quickly found yourself drowning in them. You barely even noticed his warm touch on the inner side of your tight. His hand was rubbing your skin, moving in small circles, slowly making its way up under your skirt. You were about to give in and let him reach the fabric of your underwear but ultimately decided against it. You didn't want to spoil the fun with the thoughts that were still hiding in the corner of your head.
"Eyes on the road, Hargrove," you teasingly turned his face straight forward, earning a smile from him. "And hands on the wheel."
"As you wish," he said, taking his hand off your leg but the feeling of his familiar touch lingered for a while.
"Okay, I will stay with you," you agreed, blaming it on his games. "But no distractions."
"No distractions," he repeated with little certainty and smiled, tilting his head.
You had no idea why you even bothered.
